Fizikalni modeli imunoterapije in radioterapije

Povzetek: V prispevku bomo predstavili rezultate fizikalnih modelov imunoterapije, ki smo jih razvili v programski skupini Medicinska fizika na Fakulteti za matematiko in fiziko Univerze v Ljubljani. Glavni cilj raziskav je bila prepoznava bioloških značilnosti tumorjev, od katerih je odvisen odziv na zdravljenje s protitelesi receptorja programirane celične smrti l (angl. anti-programmed-death-1 (anti-PD-1)). Posebno pozornost smo namenili meritvam modelskih parametrov ter preverbi rezultatov modeliranja, kar je eden izmed predpogojev za uspešno translacijo modeliranja v rutinsko predklinično in klinično prakso. Predstavili bomo tudi načrte za prihodnost, tj. modeliranje kombinacije anti-PD-1 in radioterapije.

Estimation of the corrosion properties for titanium dental alloys produced by SLM

Povzetek: Titanium alloys are known for their excellent biocompatible properties. The development of additive-manufacturing technologies has increased the interest in the use of Ti-6Al-4V, produced by selective laser melting (SLM) method, also in dentistry, i.e., prosthodontics and orthodontics. In the present paper, the effect of laser printing parameters in the selective laser melting (SLM) process on the porosity and corrosion behavior of Ti-6Al-4V dental alloy was metallographically and electrochemically studied. All the tests were performed in artificial saliva at 37 °C. Different forms of Ti-6Al-4V alloy were selected: a reference sample, i.e., pre-fabricated milling disc in wrought condition and four different 3D-printed samples made from Ti-6Al-4V powder using the SLM method, one being heat treated. Electrochemical, spectroscopic and hardness measurements were employed in the study. It was shown that the SLM-produced Ti-6Al-4V samples with different printing parameters have similar microstructural and electrochemical properties, while the electrochemical properties of a reference and thermally treated 3D-printed sample were different, most probably due to the change in the microstructure of the alloys. The corrosion properties were related to the microstructural properties as well as to the pore density.

Comparison of cycling high temperature corrosion at 650°C in the presence of NaCl of various austenitic stainless steels

Povzetek: The high temperature corrosion at 650°C in the presence of NaCl at atmospheric pressure of AISI 304L, AISI 309, AISI 310S, AISI 314 and AISI 321 austenitic stainless steel was studied. The specimens were cyclically heated in the furnace and immersed in a 3.5% aqueous NaCl solution after cooling for 15 min. After each cycle, the change in mass of the samples was measured. The corroded samples were analysed by SEM /EDX, and the corrosion products were analysed by XRD. The chloride ions react with the steel surface to form porous and poorly adherent oxides and metal chlorides. After the mass increase during the first exposure cycles, spalling of the oxides occurred. The high temperature austenitic stainless steels (AISI 309, AISI 310S, AISI 314) showed less mass loss than conventional austenitic steels (AISI 304L). Surprisingly, the stainless steel AISI 321 showed a similar low weight loss after the cyclic test as AISI 309, but a detailed analysis of the exposed surfaces after the test showed a similar corrosion attack as for AISI 304. After the cyclic test at high temperature in the presence of NaCl, a higher concentration of Cr and Ni definitely improves the corrosion resistance under the present conditions, but a certain addition of Si is even more obvious.

Slikovna diagnostika pri raku materničnega telesa

Povzetek: Globina invazije je poleg patohistoloških značilnosti tumorja in prizadetosti bezgavk najbolj pomemben prognostičen faktor pri bolnicah z rakom telesa maternice (RTM). Običajno je transvaginalni UZ, ki ga opravi ginekolog, prva preiskava pri bolnicah z sumom na RTM. UZ preiskava ima svoje omejitve, predvsem pri oceni globine invazije in oceni prizadetosti regionalnih in oddaljenih bezgavk. MR preiskava medenice je najbolj zanesljiva metoda za oceno globine invazije in oceno prizadetosti bezgavk v mali medenici. Mednarodne smernice se glede uporabe MR preiskave nekoliko razlikujejo. Smernice Evropskega združenja za urogenitalno radiologijo (ESUR) iz leta 2009 in smernice Ameriškega Collega za radiologijo ocenjujejo MR preiskavo kot najbolj primerno radiološko metodo za predoperativno oceno oz. za načrtovanje zdravljenja, medtem ko NCCN smernice priporočajo MR preiskavo pri stadiju II oz. pri sumu na infiltracijo materničnega vratu.

Rak telesa maternice – ultrazvočna preiskava pri raku endometrija

Povzetek: Rak endometrija je najpogostejši ginekološki rak. Natančna predoperativna diagnostika bolezni je zelo pomembna. Histološki izvid biopsije endometrija in uporaba transvaginalnega ultrazvoka (TVUZ) sta pogosto ključni predoperativni preiskavi za načrtovanje nadaljnjega zdravljenja.

Model updating concept using bridge Weigh-in-Motion data

Povzetek: Finite element (FE) model updating of bridges is based on the measured modal parameters and less frequently on the measured structural response under a known load. Until recently, the FE model updating did not consider strain measurements from sensors installed for weighing vehicles with bridge weigh-in-motion (B-WIM) systems. A 50-year-old multi-span concrete highway viaduct, renovated between 2017 and 2019, was equipped with continuous monitoring system with over 200 sensors, and a B-WIM system. In the most heavily instrumented span, the maximum measured longitudinal strains induced by the full-speed calibration vehicle passages were compared with the modelled strains. Based on the sensitivity study results, three variables that affected its overall stiffness were updated: Young’s modulus adjustment factor of all structural elements, and two anchorage reduction factors that considered the interaction between the superstructure and non-structural elements. The analysis confirmed the importance of the initial manual FE model updating to correctly reflect the non-structural elements during the automatic nonlinear optimisation. It also demonstrated a successful use of pseudo-static B-WIM loading data during the model updating process and the potential to extend the proposed approach to using random B-WIM-weighed vehicles for FE model updating and long-term monitoring of structural parameters and load-dependent phenomena.
