Iskanje po repozitoriju
A+ | A- | Pomoč | SLO | ENG

Napredno iskanje omogoča omejevanje števila rezultatov iskanja z vnosom iskalnih pojmov različnih kategorij v iskalna okna in uporabo logičnih operatorjev (IN, ALI ter IN NE).

Testing species boundaries of an unknown Dolomedes (Araneae, Dolomedidae) morphospecies from isolated islands
Grégory Cazanove, Kuang-Ping Yu, Brice Derepas, Arnaud Henrard, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek

Povzetek: Raft spiders, family Dolomedidae, represent a group of spiders with 7 genera distributed near globally well known for a semi-aquatic lifestyle. One of the iconic genera representing such a unique lifestyle is the largest and diverse dolomedid genus Dolomedes. Although Dolomedes is well surveyed in parts of its distribution, its diversity in the tropics remains largely unknown, such as the western Indian Ocean region with most of the islands unsurveyed. Recent expeditions to Madagascar and La Réunion Island discovered a series of specimens that appear to belong to an unknown morphospecies of Dolomedes, exhibiting varying degrees of differences in the diagnostic characteristics. To further test and define their species boundaries, we include molecular evidence followed by species delimitation analyses. Our findings indicate that specimens from both islands are conspecific. Consequently, we introduce a new species to science, Dolomedes reuniascar sp. nov., providing detailed illustrations, descriptions of its variations and ecological characteristics. Based on our observations and existing literature, we speculate that the presence of this species on the two isolated islands could be attributed to either highly efficient dispersal abilities, such as ballooning of spiderlings, or human-mediated introduction events.

Ambient intraborehole flow in a highly productive aquifer in Ljubljana, Slovenia
Janja Svetina, Joerg Prestor, Simon Mozetič, Mihael Brenčič, 2024, izvirni znanstveni članek

Povzetek: Study region: Ljubljansko polje aquifer in the central part of Slovenia. Study focus: Impeller flowmeter was used together with the water quality probe to determine the flow characteristics of water under ambient conditions (without pumping) in 13 boreholes in a highly productive alluvial aquifer. The study focused on analysing the characteristics and variability of intraborehole flows in relation to the technical features of the boreholes, as well as the geometry and geological composition of the aquifer. New hydrological insights for the region: The study has shown that vertical hydraulic gradients are not limited to complex multiple aquifer systems but can also occur in uniform alluvial aquifers without typical aquitard layers if hydraulic head differences exist between the upper and lower parts of the aquifer. The intraborehole flows are mainly caused by pressure-driven convection in deeper boreholes with long screens. The direction and velocity of these flows are strongly influenced by the morphology of the bedrock. Downward water flows are closely related to the local deepening of the bedrock and upward flows to the local rise of the bedrock. In some boreholes, intraborehole flow rates exceed the typical pumping rates for groundwater sampling, raising concerns about the representativeness of samples collected using conventional sampling methods. Hydrochemical logs proved to be a valuable complementary method to determine the locations of the main inflows.

Recent theoretical and practical contributions to the OR environment and CEJOR from the perspective of SSI-SOR
Janez Povh, Lidija Zadnik Stirn, Janez Žerovnik, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek

Povzetek: The article summarizes the research topics published in this special issue. The pa- pers in this issue are based on the selected and peer-reviewed papers from the 17th International Symposium on Operations Research in Slovenia – SOR’23, which took place in Bled, Slovenia (https://arhiv.fov.um.si/sor23/), September 20–22, 2023. In addition, we examined the 27 research papers in the last two SSI-SOR CEJOR special issues, 16 in the Cent Eur J Oper Res 31, issue 3, 2023, and 11 in this CEJOR special issue, and grouped them into clusters using keywords ac- cording to the methodology published by Kastrin et al. (2021) Methodologies and applications for resilient global development from the aspect of SDI-SOR. The clusters show the main and niche topics presented and, on the one hand, illustrate the European and international state of the art in the field of OR over the last five years and, on the other hand, can serve as a stimulus for further work on upcoming strategic OR topics.

Skin cancer segmentation and classification by implementing a hybrid FrCN-(U-NeT) technique with machine learning
Puneet Thapar, Manik Rakhra, Deepak Prashar, Leo Mršić, Arfat Ahmad Khan, Seifedine Kadry, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek

Povzetek: Skin cancer is a severe and rapidly advancing condition that can be impacted by multiple factors, including alcohol and tobacco use, allergies, infections, physical activity, exposure to UV light, viral infections, and the effects of climate change. While the steep death tolls continue rising at an alarming rate, lack of symptoms recognition and its preventive measures further worsen the case. In this article, we employ the ISBI-2017 dataset to present an improved FrCN-based hybrid image segmentation method with U-Net to improve detection performance. This paper proposes a hybrid approach using the FrCN-(U-Net) image segmentation technique to enhance results compared to an advanced method for detecting skin cancer types, such as Benign or Melanoma. The classification phase is then handled using the R-CNN algorithm. Our model shows better performance in both training and testing accuracy than any other existing approaches. The results show that the combined method is effective in enhancing early disease diagnosis, which in turn improves treatment outcomes and prognosis. This paper presents an alternative technique for skin cancer detection, which can serve as a guide for clinical practices and public health strategies on how to lower skin-cancer-related deaths.
