Suggested approach to the financial controlling in wood enterprisesMariana Sedliačikova, Denis Jelačić, Josef Drábek, Leon Oblak, 2005, strokovni članek Povzetek: The aim of this paper is to analyse theoretical and practical approaches to the fundamentals, place, roles, functions and contents of the financial controlling in wood enterprises. After analysing various works by domestic andforeign authors, we designed our own approach to the problem of financial controlling, which is integrated into the subsystem of operative controlling and emphasises the relations between single subsystems of controlling. Financial controlling is a relatively independent part of enterprise controlling, whose main objective is to provide for liquidity in a company at all times and to ensure that the prime target of profitability is achieved at the same time.

42. The impact of business informatics develpoment on business operations in Slovenian wood industry companiesJože Kropivšek, Leon Oblak, 2003, izvirni znanstveni članek Povzetek: The rapid development of business informatics is greatly influencing (global) business environment formation, while informatisation of business has, at the same time, a significant impact on assuring adapted business operations due tothis (changeable) environment. Informatics is closely connected with almost every (business) field in companies. Thus, the theoretical analysis in the article shows business (and production) informatics course of development and its impact on business operations in (also) Slovenian wood industry companies.A practical analysis in those companies was made with the aid of theopinion pool method in the years 2000 in 2003. The major deficiencies were established first of all in the (contentual) coverage of business processes bythe information system. However, information technology in these companies seems to be relatively up-to-date. According to those (established) deficiencies, possible solutions were indicated to solve the current situationin Slovenian wood industry companies, which was one of the main objectives of the performed research.

43. Changes of ashwood pH-value during conventional dryingAleš Straže, Sandi Torkar, Vesna Tišler, Željko Gorišek, 2003, izvirni znanstveni članek Povzetek: Changes of pH of sawn wood during conventional drying were studied. Green ashwood boards (Fraxinus excelsior L.), 25.4 mm in thickness, were exposed to 1 month air drying and to kiln drying using 7 schedules, reached by varying temperature (20°C, 30°C and 65°C) and relative air humidity (33% to 90%). Wood samples for pH and moisture content (MC) determination were taken in successive time interval at 3 board`s depths (1/10, 1/3 and 1/2 of thickness).MC was established gravimetrically. pH-value determination of solid wood water system by suspending wood dust into distilled water was used. The lowest used temperature and duration of drying procedure had not significant influence on wood pH. Wood acidification was confirmed at higher drying temperatures (30°C and 65°C), particularly with lower drying rates and prolongation of the procedure. Among all the factors, drying temperature had the greatest impact on the pH-value of wood.

Differentiation of last formed tracheids in wood of silver firs (Abies alba) having various cambial productivityJožica Gričar, Aleš Straže, Katarina Čufar, 2003, izvirni znanstveni članek Povzetek: To examine the state of differentiation of the last tracheids formed in wood and the duration of cambial activity, samples of wood and cambium were taken from mature silver fir (Abies alba) trees having various cambial productivity.Semi-thin cross-sections of wood sampled in July and October, 1999, were stained with toluidine blue and observed under a light microscope. In July, three different phases of current annual xylem growth ring formation were found, as a result of various cambial tree productivity. In October, the cell divisions in the cambium were completed in all investigated trees, while the process of differentiation was not entirely completed in trees with a more productive cambium. The number of undifferentiated tracheids was higher in trees having a more productive cambium. In these trees, the cambial activity and the differentiation ended later. In declining trees, the number of cells produced by the cambium was lower and the duration of cambial activity was shorter.

45. Promotion activities of wood industry in Slovenia and in CroatiaMarko Dušak, Denis Jelačić, Maja Moro, Andreja Pirc Barčić, Leon Oblak, 2016, izvirni znanstveni članek Povzetek: Wood industry is among the most important industrial sectors in Slovenia and Croatia. In both countries, wood sector is a part of the national strategy plans and one of the industrial branches considered national economy boosters. But media coverage of wood industry and furniture manufacturing in Slovenia, as well as in Croatia, is far behind the promotion enjoyed by other industrial branches. This paper will give the current situation in promotional activities of wood sector in Slovenian and Croatian media and demonstrate the existing differences among given countries. Also, it will present some ideas on improving this situation according to media share of other highly profiled industrial branches in some southeastern European countries.

Model reševanja konfliktov - primer lesnega podjetja na HrvaškemJosip Faletar, Jože Kropivšek, 2016, izvirni znanstveni članek Povzetek: Pri poslovanju se, kakor tudi pri vseh ostalih odnosih, pojavljajo nasprotna mišljenja in konflikti. Ravnanje s konflikti je ena pomembnejših nalog managementa, ki močno vpliva na učinkovitost in uspešnost podjetij. V raziskavi, ki je predmet tega članka, smo preučevali fenomen konfliktov v velikem lesnopredelovalnem podjetju na Hrvaškem. Podatke smo pridobivali s strukturiranim anketnim vprašalnikom. Ugotavljali smo značilnosti obstoječega modela ravnanja s konflikti v tem podjetju. Podrobneje smo preučevali odnose med zaposlenimi, kako pogosto se pojavljajo konflikti in kako se vpleteni odzivajo nanje. Čeprav v preučevanem podjetju formalno ne obstaja model ravnanja s konflikti, pa lahko na osnovi te raziskave ta model dovolj natančno identificiramo in dokažemo njegove skupne značilnosti. Rezultati so pokazali, da so odnosi med zaposlenimi v preučevanem podjetju dobri ter, da je način odzivanja na konflikte pozitivno naravnan. Najpogostejši vzrok za konflikte je slabši pretok informacij med zaposlenimi, kar kaže na izrazito potrebo po izboljšanju komunikacijskega kanala, predvsem po razgovorih in različnih drugih vrstah sestankov. Zato je to tudi eden izmed pomembnejših elementov predloga modela za ravnanje s konflikti v preučevanem podjetju.

Influence of drying temperature on properties of wood surfacesMilan Šernek, 2002, izvirni znanstveni članek Povzetek: This article deals with modifications of wood surface properties induced by different drying temperatures. The aim of the study was chemical and physical characterization of a wood surface concerning low and high temperature exposure. Additionally, the correlation between the chemical composition of a wood surface and its wetting capacity were investigated. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and contact angle measurements were conducted. Two wood species, yellow poplar (Liriodendron tulipifera) and southern pine (Pinus taeda) were studied. The results showed that the percentage of carbon increased with drying temperature, and consequently, the percentage of oxygen decreased. The samples exposed to high drying temperatures indicated a higher content of extractives on the wood surface. These samples exhibited the highest contact angle and the lowest wettability
