Observations on Thresher Shark, Alopias vulpinus (Chondrichthyes: Alopiidae) from the Coast of Algeria (Southwestern Mediterranean Sea)Farid Hemida, Christian Reynaud, Christian Capapé, 2022, izvirni znanstveni članek Povzetek: Between 1996 and 2002, 194 specimens of thresher shark, Alopias vulpinus, were sampled from the Algerian coast. Males (102 specimens) did not significantly outnumber females (92 specimens). The collected specimens ranged between 49 and 249 cm in standard length and weighed between 14 and 150 kg. Since 2002, captures of A. vulpinus have remained relatively rare throughout the Algerian coast and this phenomenon could indicate a decline of the species’ occurrence in this area and probably in the entire Mediterranean.

Arrivare troppo tardi : Oralità perdute (e ritrovate) tra Italia e SloveniaCecilia Furioso Cenci, 2023, izvirni znanstveni članek Povzetek: Questo articolo riflette sulla ricerca condotta al fine di ricostruire la vita del mio bisnonno, un cittadino asburgico di lingua slovena, che nacque nel 1890 in un paese del Litorale austriaco, poi passato all’Italia. La sua vicenda, connessa all’emigrazione e all’italianizzazione, è fondamentale per analizzare questi fenomeni a inizio Novecento sul confine orientale italiano. L’articolo si focalizza sulle difficoltà riscontrate nella ricerca, il fatto di essere apparentemente arrivata troppo tardi e la carenza di studi specifici preesistenti, e sulle soluzioni trovate. In particolare è evidenziato il ricorso a fonti orali: memorie familiari, interviste e lettere con un forte carattere di oralità.

4. Newcomers in Maribor in the First Half of the Eighteenth Century in the Marriage Records of the Parish of St John the BaptistDavid Hazemali, Aleš Maver, Mateja Matjašič Friš, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Povzetek: This article examines the role of newcomers in Maribor during the early eighteenth century through an analysis of 401 marriages recorded between 1700 and 1748 in the Parish of St John the Baptist. At least one spouse in each of these documented marriages originated from outside Maribor (including arrivals from German-speaking Styria, from Carinthia and Carniola, as well as nearby towns and villages). The study shows strong evidence that in-migration via marriage was vital for Maribor’s demographic and economic recovery after the late seventeenth-century plague. Newcomers often married into established local families, particularly those of guild masters and artisans, swiftly obtaining burgher status and guild membership. Marriage functioned as a key integration mechanism that transformed ‘outsiders’ into ‘insiders’ and helped replenish skilled labour in the town. The findings highlight that Maribor depended on a constant influx of migrants to sustain its population and craft industries, as was typical of many pre-industrial towns where deaths outpaced births. Through quantitative analysis of marriage registers and illustrative case studies, the article contributes new insights into early modern urban mobility, showing how socially sanctioned institutions like marriage facilitated the integration of migrants into urban society.

5. Palermo Facing a Hispanic Population : Deliberative Processes of Acquiring Citizenship in Early Modern PalermoJosé María Lozano Jiménez, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Povzetek: This article aims to examine, through a historiographical review of the issue of foreignness in the early modern period, the paradoxical situation of the Spanish population residing in Palermo, Sicily, between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Although subjects of the same Monarchy, they belonged to different kingdoms with their own legal and cultural traditions, and were thus perceived in Palermo as a kind of “recognizable” foreigner. Through textual analysis of primary sources and their integration into contemporary theoretical frameworks, this article seeks to explore the capacity of individuals to adapt to foreign institutions and environments.
