In accordance with the funders' strategies, the beneficiaries must provide open access to all peer-reviewed scientific publications that refer to the results of publicly (nationally) funded research (the details of the funders' open access requirements must be checked).
In case of publication of an article in a subscription journal (content accessible only to subscribers), the author ensures open accessibility by storing the corresponding version of the published work in the repository. As a rule, it is about saving AAM - Author Accepted Manuscript (postprint), i.e. the author's final, peer-reviewed manuscript accepted for publication. It is less recommended to save the author's unreviewed manuscript sent for publication (preprint), because the content differs, it has not yet been peer-reviewed and therefore does not yet meet the criteria for scientific publication.
At the same time, it is also necessary to take into account the publisher's (journal's) policies relating to storage or archiving of publications - it is mainly a version of publication, suitable for archiving and time availability of the saved document (immediate or with a delay - embargo).
The archiving conditions can be checked on the publishers' websites (under Article Sharing, Hosting Policy, Self-archiving Policy, Open access, etc.) or on the Sherpa Romeo service.
As a rule, we store in the repository a PDF file of the author's final, peer-reviewed manuscript accepted for publication, which the author must obtain from the publisher during the processing of the publication.
