Growth characteristics of European beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) on Isopyro-Fagetum KOS. 62 site

Abstract: In this paper, growth characteristics of European beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) stands on site of Isopyro-Fagetum KOS. 62 are analysed. The research was carried out in Zasavje, where in mature beech stands five plots measuring 30x30 m were set. All trees above 10 cm were measured and cut for stem analyses. Increment of the last 10 years is statistically significantly influenced by (chronologic) age of trees, shade effect, diameter at breast height, social class and very rarely by crown dimensions. The time of current increment culmination is dependent on age, diameter at breast height, social class and on shade effect. As regards site productivity of the analysed site, a very broad range was ascertained. Variation is almost completely explained by altitude. On three plots sites, productivity increase was confirmed, whereas on one plot the changes were not significant and on one plot site productivity decreased, probably due to the transmitter on Mt Kum.

Genetski vidik naravne obnove smrekovega sestoja na nastali raziskovalni ploskvi Šijec na Pokljuki

Abstract: Namen raziskave je bil preveriti sposobnost naravnega obnavljanja genetskega vira Picea abies (L.) Karst. na objektu stalne raziskovalne ploskve Šijec na Pokljuki, Slovenija. Genetsko strukturo zrelega sestoja smreke in genetsko strukturo naravnega mladja v razlino velikih pomladitvenih jedrih smo preuili z elektroforetsko analizo 15 polimorfnih izoencimskih genskih lokusov desetih encimskih sistemov (GDH, F-EST, GOT, IDH, LAP, MDH, PGI, PGM, SKDH, 6-PGDH). Pod doloenimi pogoji je bila genetska struktura 101 dreves naravnega pomladka in 64 dreves sestoja, iz katerega je nastal, popolnoma primerljiva. Obnova smrekovega sestoja z naravnim pomlajevanjem zagotavlja trajno ohranjanje genskega vira smreke in je v primeru vejih pomladitvenih jeder tudi zagotoviloza neprekinjeno ohranjanje njegove prilagoditvene sposobnosti.

Identification of types of ectomycorrhizae on seedlings in a beech provenance trial

Abstract: Root systems and types of ectomycorrhizae (ECM) were analysed on three 7-year-old beech seedlings (Fagus sylvatica L.) of three provenances (Val di Sella, Idrija, Nizbor) from an international beech provenance trial and on a naturally regenerated 5-year-old beech seedling from the same site (Kamenski vrh by Novo mesto). All short roots were mycorrhizal. In the sampled 20,302 root tips 49 % were non-turgescent and unidentifiable ECM. Twenty-two different types of ECM were identified, out of which 11 were successfully determined either to the species or genus level. All ECM were described by morphological and anatomical characteristics, basidiomycetes also by molecularmethods. ECM that was not successfully determined either to the species or genus level formed a new cluster in the Slovenian mycorrhizal molecular database. Species richness and percentage of vital ECM roots were highest for the provenance from Idrija (Slovenia). The results indicate that there might be differences between provenances regarding the abundance of ECM,which should be further studied.

Genetska diferenciacija avtohtonih populacij smreke (Picea abies (L.) Karst.) v Sloveniji, ugotovljena z analizo izoencimov

Abstract: Raziskava obravnava genetsko diferenciacijo 22 populacij smreke (Picea abies (L.) Karst.) z njenih naravnih rastišč v Sloveniji in 4 na Hrvaškem z analizo izoencimskih genskih označevalcev. Razlike med populacijami smo ocenili z genetskimi razdaljami po Gregoriusu (1974) za 15 polimorfnih genskih lokusov. Vrednosti genetskih razdalj se gibljejo med 0,021 in 0,073 (v Sloveniji do 0,063). Izoencimska genetska diferenciranost smreke je razmeroma majhna. Rezultati hierarhične klasifikacije nakazujejo geografsko odvisno združevanjepopulacij v dve skupini: alpsko skupino s Trnovskim gozdom in osrednje dinarsko skupino. Skupini se na območju Snežnika tudi prekrivata.
