Abstract:Zaviralci imunskih kontrolnih točk so bistveno spre menili zdravljenje pljučnega raka, ki je že historično bolezen z zelo slabo prognozo in preživetjem. Naj večji napredek je bil dosežen pri nedrobnoceličnem raku pljuč, kjer so zaviralci imunskih kontrolnih točk postali standard zdravljenja tako v prvi, kot tudi v drugi liniji. Pri drobnoceličnem raku pljuč so zaviralci imunskih kontrolnih točk prvič po desetletjih izboljšali celokupno preživetje. V prispevku so predstavljeni mehanizmi delovanja zaviralcev imunskih kontrolnih točk ter ključne klinične študije, ki so dokazale iz boljšanje celokupnega preživetja ob zdravljenju z njimi.

Title:Role and advances of lung cancer treatment with immune checkpoint inhibitors
Abstract:Immune checkpoint inhibitors have significantly transformed the treatment of lung cancer that has historically been a poor prognosis disease. The greatest progress has been achieved in non-small cell lung cancer, where immune checkpoint inhibi tors are now the standard treatment in first-line and second-line therapy. In small cell lung cancer, im mune checkpoint inhibitors have achieved the first meaningful survival improvement in decades. This article summarizes mechanisms of action and key clinical trials that have exhibited improved survival in lung cancer patients.
