| Abstract: | A large female shortfin mako shark, Isurus oxyrinchus Rafinesque, 1810, was observed on 7 October 2022 near Pantelleria, in the Strait of Sicily, Italy. The total length was carefully estimated at 350-370 cm based on a comparison with a 690 cm boat. This specimen is one of the largest I. oxyrinchus photographed and filmed alive in the Mediterranean waters. |
