Abstract:	Terminološke razprave so izjemnega pomena ob razvoju novih konceptov in prevzemanju ter prevajanju tujih terminov v slovenščino. Od leta 2022 se odpira vprašanje, ali je geodiverziteta kot slovenski prevod angleškega termina geodiversity primeren oziroma ali bi bilo smiselneje uporabljati termin geopestrost. S širšo in ožjo opredelitviho koncepta, analizo obstoječih virov, znanstvene literature ter terminoloških slovarjev in tudi rabe v tujih ne-angleških jezikih ugotavljamo, da je pojem geopestrost napačen in ga vsem deležnikom v vsaki rabi odsvetujemo.

Title:	On the definition and terminological appropriateness of the term geodiversity
Abstract:	Discussions on terminology are of paramount importance when developing new concepts and when adopting and translating foreign terms into Slovene. Since 2022, the question has been raised as to whether geodiverziteta is an appropriate Slovenian translation of the English term geodiversity, or whether it would be more appropriate to use the term geopestrost. By defining the term broadly and narrowly, analysing existing sources, scientific literature and terminology dictionaries, as well as its use in foreign non-English languages, we conclude that the term geopestrost is incorrect and advise all stakeholders against its use.
