Abstract:V prispevku je na podlagi avtorjevih osebnih izkušenj podano razmišljanje o razvoju koncepta geodiverzitete na območju Slovenije. Na kratko je povzet razvoj tega koncepta pri raziskovalcih in strokovnjakih s področja geologije. V razpravi je na kratko podana primerjava med konceptoma biodiverzitete in geodiverzitete. Slednje ni mogoče izvajati na podobnih temeljih kot koncepta biodiverzitete. Opredelitev geodiverzitete je možna le na podlagi splošno sprejetih družbenih vrednot in okoljske etike.

Title:About geodiversity - an essay
Abstract:Based on the author's personal experience, the paper reflects on the development of the concept of geodiversity in Slovenia. The development of this concept by researchers and experts in the field of geology is briefly summarised. The discussion compares the concepts of bio- and geodiversity. The latter cannot be implemented on a similar basis as the concept of biodiversity. The definition of geodiversity is only possible on the basis of generally accepted social values and an environmental ethic.
