Title:Asthma endotypes linked with airway damage
Abstract:Asthma is heterogeneus disease. Airway inflammation that persists leads to an irreversible loss of pulmonary function. Asthma with pronounced eosinophilia in the blood and increased concentration of nitric oxide in exhaled air is associated with an uncontrolled clinical pattern, impaired lung function and frequent exacerbations. The purpose of this paper is to present the modern approach toward a patient with asthma. This includes the basics of recognizing persistent inflammation in the asthma airway, which otherwise poses a risk of frequent exacerbations of the disease and airway damage.
Keywords:exhaled air, airway damage
