| Abstract: | Visual census surveys in two areas along the western coast of Libya, conducted in 2012 and from 2018 to 2024, led to the first records of nine species of blennies (suborder Blennioidea) in Libyan waters. These species, comprising seven Blenniidae and two Tripterygiidae, were Aidablennius sphynx (Valenciennes, 1836), Coryphoblennius galerita (Linnaeus, 1758), Microlipophrys canevae (Vinciguerra, 1880), Microlipophrys dalmatinus (Steindachner & Kolombatovic, 1883), Parablennius gattorugine (Linnaeus, 1758), Parablennius zvonimiri (Kolombatovic, 1892), Scartella cristata (Linnaeus, 1758), Tripterygion melanurus Guichenot, 1850 and Tripterygion tripteronotum (Risso, 1810). |
