Title:Slovenia as an attractive destination for foreign film shooting? The case of the Indian film industry
Abstract:The article analyses Slovenia as a filming destination for the Indian film industry, the largest in the world and increasingly reliant on European locations. Based on an analysis of the IMDb database, film analysis, interviews, a focus group, and a workshop, it examines the spatial characteristics of Slovenian filming locations, their role in films, and the factors and effects of filming. The findings show that Slovenia mainly appears as a picturesque backdrop in short song-and-dance sequences, yet it stands out for its landscape diversity, affordability, and high-quality technical support. With an adequate institutional strategy, financial incentives, promotion, and networking, Slovenia could establish itself as a recognisable destination, bringing significant economic, tourism, cultural, and diplomatic benefits.
