Abstract:Prispevek obravnava razumevanje koncepta matične domovine med mladimi pripadniki italijanske narodne skupnosti v Sloveniji.

Title:Kin-Homeland from the Perspective of Young Members of the Italian National Community in Slovenia
Abstract:This article examines how young members of the Italian national community in Slovenia understand the concept of the kin-homeland. Based on a qualitative analysis of data obtained from a focus group, the article explores how young people experience this concept in the context of the multifaceted and fluid identities characteristic of their generation. Particular attention is paid to the ways in which different identity orientations intersect in ethnically mixed environments where national belonging often overlaps with a strong sense of local attachment. The findings show that for many participants the concept of the kin-homeland is unclear or unknown. The article highlights the complexity of feelings of belonging, with local identification emerging as the most prominent. Identification with the kin-homeland thus transcends a simple binary opposition between Italy and Slovenia and instead reflects more open, situational, and context-dependent forms of belonging. Language and history play an important role in shaping these perceptions and are frequently identified by participants as key reference points in defining the concept of the kin-homeland.
