Abstract:Vzgoja in izobraževanje pripadnikov slovenske manjšine na Madžarskem se lahko organizira v več oblikah. V Porabju je sprejet in uveljavljen model t. i. narodnostne šole. Model vključuje vzgojno-izobraževalne ustanove, ki imajo status narodnostne šole oziroma vrtca. Osemletno osnovnošolsko izobraževanje v Porabju poteka na dveh dvojezičnih šolah (Dvojezična osnovna šola Jožefa Košiča na Gornjem Seniku in Dvojezična osnovna šola Števanovci), slovenski jezik kot narodnostni jezik se poučuje tudi na monoštrskih osnovnih in srednjih šolah. V prispevku na podlagi polstrukturiranih intervjujev z mladimi, ki so bili vključeni v narodnostno izobraževanje, predstavljamo njihova mnenja o rabi porabščine / slovenskega jezika v družini in okolju, njihove izkušnje učenja jezika in razmišljanja o perspektivnosti slovenskega jezika. Rezultati kažejo, da so intervjuvanci, ki so kaj vešči porabskega narečja, le-to usvojili od starih staršev, v komunikaciji s starši in vrstniki pa večinoma uporabljajo madžarščino. Ne glede na določene izražene pomanjkljivosti so s poukom slovenščine v pretežni meri zadovoljni. Pri rabi slovenščine velik pomen pripisujejo navzočnosti pedagoških delavcev iz Slovenije in izvenšolskim dejavnostim ter sodelovanju v kulturnih skupinah in društvih. Kljub pridobljenemu znanju slovenščine se ne počutijo dovolj usposobljeni za študij v Sloveniji. Večina je izpostavila dejstvo, da zaradi sosednje Avstrije in potreb trga dela znanje slovenščine ni dovolj privlačno za mlade.

Title:Young People’s Opinions on the Importance of Minority Schooling in the Slovene Raba Region
Abstract:Schooling for members of the Slovene minority in Hungary can take several forms. In the Raba Region, for example, a so-called minority school model has been adopted and institutionalised, encompassing educational institutions with the status of minority schools and kindergartens. Eight years of primary education are offered at the Jožef Košič Bilingual Primary School in Felsőszölnök/Gornji Senik and the Bilingual Primary School in Apátistvánfalva/Števanovci. In addition, Slovene is taught as a minority language in primary and secondary schools in Szentgotthárd/Monošter. Drawing on semi- -structured interviews with students attending minority schools, the article presents their views on the use of the local Slovene variety within the family and the wider community, their experiences of language learning, and their perceptions of its future prospects. The findings show that interviewees who are proficient in the local dialect primarily acquired it from their grandparents, while Hungarian is predominantly used in communication with parents and peers. Despite certain shortcomings, respondents express a generally high level of satisfaction with Slovene language instruction. They attribute particular importance to the presence of teachers from Slovenia, extracurricular activities, and participation in cultural groups and associations in supporting the use of Slovenian. Nevertheless, despite their knowledge of Slovene, most interviewees do not feel sufficiently prepared to pursue studies in Slovenia. Many also point out that, due to the proximity of Austria and labour market demands, knowledge of Slovene is perceived as having limited practical value for young people.
