Abstract:The database was created as part of the task " Current and future drivers of agricultural change: Assessing the implications for working conditions and occupational stress amongst farmers and farmworkers" within the Horizon Europe project " Strengthening the Farm Health and Safety Knowledge and Innovation Systems in Europe" (acronym: SafeHabitus; 2023–2026). The project aims to promote safer and less harmful working practices on farms across the European Union through modern methods and a participatory approach, facilitated by the activities of communities of practice (CoPs), whose members exchange information, knowledge, and experience. The purpose of this project task was to support the operation of CoPs by reviewing the scientific literature on sources of occupational stress on farms that can lead to mental health problems among farmers and farmworkers. The literature review covers four thematic areas: 1. psychosocial challenges and opportunities in agriculture; 2. farming culture, farm safety, and farmer well-being; 3. social protection for farmers and farmworkers; and 4. the impact of modern technologies in agriculture on the safety, health, and well-being of farmers and farmworkers. To analyse the sources of workplace stressors in these four areas, a database was created containing publications/scientific articles for the periods 1974–2023 (WOS) and 1924–2023 (Scopus).
