Distresses of a demented patient and his relatives upon admission and discharge from a psychiatric hospital
Abstract:
The article presents the admission respictively the transfer of a demented patient in a psychiatric hospital as a stressful situation for the patient, aswell as for his relatives. The task of all the health workers is to prepare the patient and his relatives for this change Active inclusion of relatives and the patient in the planning of nursing care can solve many hardships and doubts accompanying hospitalizationč the patient and hisžher relatives should be continuosly educated about the disease itself, about the proceedings of nursing care and treatment as a whole and about different possibilities of living outside the institution.
