| Abstract: | One of the main objectives of the National Food and Nutrition Action Plan for the period 2005-2010 is the promotion of a healthy diet among all age groups in Slovenia. Special attention has been given to vulnerable groups, such as children and adolescents in the period of their intensive growth and development, including the development of healthy living habits. Children acquire basic nutritional habits from their parents and community at a very early stage of their lives, and these have an important impact on their healthlater in life. In early 2011, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Slovenia adopted dietary guidelines for infants which include basic principlesof nutrition in the childćs first year of life. The guidelines developed by the Expert Working Group of the Ministry of Health offer practical guidance for the introduction of different foods in the infant dietćs (breastfeeding, solid food intake, etc.) and are primarily intended to health professionals, future parents and students. |
