Namen prispevka je, da osvetli kontekst, v katerem je do te odločitve prišlo, in predstavi njena izhodišča. Le-ta so teoretična in temeljijo na določeni konceptualizaciji in vrednostni orientaciji naročnika raziskave in raziskovalk ter metodološka, se pravi razlogi za izbiro določene raziskovalne strategije in metod. Avtorica opozori tudi na etične vidike raziskovanja in zaključi s predstavitvijo implikacij raziskave za dejavnost medicinskih sester in za nadaljnje raziskovanje ob upoštevanju njenih omejitev. Title:	Theoretical and methodological background of the research study about nurses in Slovenia
Abstract:	The decision to perform a large research study in a not very much researched field of nursing in Slovenia is not contingent. The aim of the article is to present the context of this decision and its background. The theoretical basisof the study is discussed, based on the conceptualization of the researchsubject by the comissioner and the researchers as well as the reasons for choosing research strategy and methods. The author discusses ethical considerations of the research. Finnally, she presents the implications of theresearch findings for the nursing practice and for further research as wellas their limitations.
