Title:Health and health care in the light of sociological research
Abstract:The article presents the findings of sociological research of health and health care in Slovenia, performed after 1990 and their application to the field of nursing care, showing how health defined as physical, psychological and social wellbeing is distributed in Slovenian society. In frames of the research work, secondary data from representative public opinion research wereused. The results reveal that significant differences exist among health in different social groups. Health status is the worst in the group with elementary school education, in the population group over 60 years of age, as well as in women and farmers. Education has been shown as a main factor influencing health status.
