Title:Ko lubadar postane zvezdar – ustaljenost terminologije kot temelj učinkovite komunikacije v gozdarstvu

Abstract:V času podnebnih sprememb, globalne trgovine in širjenja invazivnih organizmov je jasna, konsistentna in funkcionalna komunikacija med strokovnjaki, lastniki gozdov in javnostjo ključna za učinkovito gospodarjenje z gozdovi. Nedavna prizadevanja za posodobitev slovenskih imen podlubnikov, kot jih predlagajo Jurc in sod. (2024) v reviji Scopolia, odpirajo pomembno razpravo o strokovni ustreznosti, funkcionalnosti in ustaljenosti terminologije. S pričujočim komentarjem želimo opozoriti na pomen ohranjanja ustaljenih slovenskih poimenovanj, ki so v stroki uveljavljena že desetletja, ter predlagamo mehanizme za vzpostavitev strukturiranega procesa za usklajevanje slovenske terminologije.

Title:When “lubadar” becomes “zvezdar” – established terminology as the basis for effective communication in forestry
Abstract:In times of climate change, global trade, and the spread of invasive organisms, clear, consistent, and functional communication between experts, forest owners, and the general public is crucial for effective forest management. Recent efforts to update Slovenian names for bark beetles, as proposed by Jurc et al. (2024) in the journal Scopolia, open an important debate on the technical appropriateness, functionality, and established use of terminology. With this commentary, we wish to draw attention to the importance of preserving established Slovenian names that have been in use in the field for decades, and we propose mechanisms for establishing a structured process for harmonizing Slovenian terminology.
