Description: This dataset contains the original X-ray fluorescence measurements for all samples before carbonation treatment. Two measurements were made for each sample and the mean values and standard deviations were calculated for each oxide. The data are linked to Table 2 in the article. The dataset contains the original masses of the samples before and during the carbonation treatment (after 7, 10 and 14 days and additionally after 16, 20, 26 and 28 days for the gravimetric analysis). It contains the calcimetric measurements of each sample before (labeled »as received«) and after CO2 treatment (after 7 and 14 days), as well as the masses of standard CaCO3 and the measured pressure (in psi) used to generate the calibration curve. The CaCO3 content in the sample was calculated based on the pressure difference after 30 seconds of reaction and for the dolomite after 40 minutes of reaction. The dataset also contains the original results of the TG analysis of all samples after 14 days of CO2 exposure using TA Universal Analysis 2000 v.4.5A software, as well as all masses and calculations for gravimetry. The data are linked to Table 3-6 and Figures 3 and 4. The dataset contains calculations of the measurement uncertainty for the calcimetric, gravimetric and TG analysis. Type A measurement uncertaintiy (uA) was calculated based on the standard deviation of precision (sA), which is the standard deviation of five measurement replicates for the same type of sample by the same operator. The type B measurement uncertainty (uB) was calculated based on the standard deviation of precision (sB), which is the absolute value of the difference between the theoretical CO2 content for each standard and the CO2 content with the largest deviation from the theoretical value. The combined uncertainty of measurement (uC) was calculated according to equation 5 in the article and the expanded uncertainty of measurement for a confidence interval of 95.5% (U95.5%) was calculated by multiplying the combined uncertainty of measurement (uC) by a factor of 2. The data are linked to Table 7 in the article.

Abstract:The dataset supports the data in the tables and figures of the scientific article Comparing methods for determining the CO2 content in CO2-Sequestering materials and natural rock (doi: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ceramint.2025.07.109). It contains the calcimetric measurements, the original results of the XRF measurements and the original data of the TGA, gravimetric and XRD analyzes as well as the calculations of the measurement uncertainty for the calcimetric, gravimetric and TG analyzes.
