There are two search modes available: simple and advanced. Simple search can include one or more words from the title, summary, keywords or full text, but does not allow the use of search operators. Advanced search allows to limit the number of search results by entering the search terms of different categories in the search window, as well as the use of Boolean search operators (AND, OR and AND NOT). In search results short formats of records are displayed and some data are displayed as links, which open a detailed description of the material (title link) or perform a new search (author or keyword link).

On commutators of idempotents
Roman Drnovšek, 2025, original scientific article

Abstract: Let T be an operator on Banach space X that is similar to T via an involution U. Then U decomposes the Banach space X as X=X1X2 with respect to which decomposition we have U=(I100I2), where Ii is the identity operator on the closed subspace Xi (i=1,2). Furthermore, T has necessarily the form T=(00) with respect to the same decomposition. In this note we consider the question when T is a commutator of the idempotent P=(I1000) and some idempotent Q on X. We also determine which scalar multiples of unilateral shifts on lp spaces (1p) are commutators of idempotent operators.

Products of commutators in matrix rings
Matej Brešar, Eusebio Gardella, Hannes Thiel, 2025, original scientific article

Abstract: Let R be a ring and let n2. We discuss the question of whether every element in the matrix ring Mn(R) is a product of (additive) commutators [x,y]=xyyx, for x,yMn(R). An example showing that this does not always hold, even when R is commutative, is provided. If, however, R has Bass stable rank one, then under various additional conditions every element in Mn(R) is a product of three commutators. Further, if R is a division ring with infinite center, then every element in Mn(R) is a product of two commutators. If R is a field and aMn(R), then every element in Mn(R) is a sum of elements of the form [a,x][a,y] with x,yMn(R) if and only if the degree of the minimal polynomial of a is greater than 2.
