There are two search modes available: simple and advanced. Simple search can include one or more words from the title, summary, keywords or full text, but does not allow the use of search operators. Advanced search allows to limit the number of search results by entering the search terms of different categories in the search window, as well as the use of Boolean search operators (AND, OR and AND NOT). In search results short formats of records are displayed and some data are displayed as links, which open a detailed description of the material (title link) or perform a new search (author or keyword link).

Diversity of ESBL-producing E. coli in various water and sediment types
Leon Marič, Maja Rupnik, Sandra Janežič, 2025, original scientific article

Abstract: Antimicrobial resistance is a major global health threat, and aquatic ecosystems serve as critical interfaces between human activity and the environment, providing reservoirs and pathways for the spread of resistant bacteria. In this study, we investigated the prevalence and diversity of ESBL-producing Escherichia coli across multiple aquatic environments in Slovenia by analysing water, sediment, and wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) influent samples collected between June 2023 and April 2024. ESBL-producing E. coli was detected in 93% of WWTP influents, 61% of water, and 35% of sediment samples. From 315 positive samples, 564 isolates were subjected to whole genome sequencing. In total, 134 MLST-sequence types (STs) were identified, with globally prevalent lineages (ST131, ST38, ST10, ST69, ST1193) occurring across regions and sample types. Clonally related isolates occurred in geographically distant sites, and persistent strains were observed over time, suggesting both local persistence and broader dissemination. Fourteen distinct ESBL genes were detected, predominantly plasmid-encoded blaCTX-M-15. Water samples captured the greatest ST diversity, whereas sediment and WWTP influents provided complementary insights. Combining sample types improved detection of overall diversity, with water and sediment or WWTP samples providing the most comprehensive overview. Our findings demonstrate widespread and dynamic dissemination of ESBL-producing E. coli in Slovenian aquatic environments and emphasize the value of integrated sampling strategies for effective surveillance.

Data in diabetic foot care : from current state to a management framework for implementation
Iztok Štotl, 2025, review article

Abstract: Background/Objectives: The healthcare data sector is experiencing unprecedented growth, fueled by advances in genomics, medical imaging, and wearable devices. The convergence of universal data standards now provides the common ground needed to translate this data into medical advances. However, a significant implementation gap persists, preventing effective deployment in routine clinical practice, particularly in specialized areas like diabetic foot care. Methods: This paper examines the opportunities presented by modern data methodologies to bridge this gap, contextualized within diabetic foot care, where the paramount goals are patient well-being, tissue preservation, and amputation prevention. Results: The analysis indicates that the synergy of interoperable data and advanced management tools is poised to fundamentally transform healthcare delivery. Interdisciplinary collaboration is identified as the foundational element enabling the timely, coordinated, and evidence-based interventions necessary to achieve critical clinical objectives. Conclusions: The pivotal challenge has shifted from technological capability to effective implementation. Leveraging modern data methodologies is essential for translating potential into tangible improvements in diabetic foot outcomes. In this context, collaborative data management must be recognized as a critical treatment modality itself. Here, “data is tissue”; it must be managed with the same urgency and care to enable success.

Prevedba ocen kakovosti stoječih dreves na izbranih objektih v sortimentno strukturo
Luka Krajnc, Janez Zafran, 2025, original scientific article

Induction of labor after fetal demise in third trimester : a retrospective cohort study
Sara Vodopivec, Gorazd Kavšek, Polona Pečlin, Mirjam Druškovič, 2025, original scientific article

Abstract: Objectives: The aim of our study was to assess the efficacy and safety of two different labor induction methods in patients after fetal demise beyond 28 weeks, with an unfavorable cervix: misoprostol—prostaglandin E1 analog (PGE1) and dinoprostone—prostaglandin E2 analog (PGE2). Methods: This retrospective single-center cohort study included all labor cases after fetal demise (intrauterine fetal death or termination of pregnancy with feticide) from 28 to 40 weeks of gestation, where labor was induced by either PGE1 or PGE2. The primary outcome was the induction-to-delivery time interval. Secondary outcomes included the proportion of patients who delivered within 24 h, the failed induction rate, the length of labor, pain during induction, the adverse outcome rate, and the post-labor hospital stay. Results: The induction-to-delivery time interval was shorter in the PGE1 group (p = 0.048). There was no statistically significant difference in the proportion of patients who delivered within 24 h (p = 0.651) and failed inductions (p = 0.18) between groups. The duration of labor was longer in the PGE2 group (p = 0.01). Oxytocin augmentation was more common in the PGE2 group (p < 0.001). Pain during induction was greater in women in the PGE1 group (p < 0.001). There were no statistically significant differences in adverse effects between groups. There was no significant difference in induction to delivery interval between the two methods when comparing lower and higher gestational ages (28 to 34 weeks, p = 0.18; 35 to 40 weeks, p = 0.343). Conclusions: Our findings support the use of a PGE1 regimen for third-trimester labor induction after fetal demise, when no contraindications exist. This approach appears to improve the efficiency of induction and may enhance overall patient care by reducing intervention needs.

Precipitacija v vodi netopnih bakrovih soli v lesu kot zaščita pred glivami razkrojevalkami lesa
Jaka Levanič, Jure Švikart, Eli Keržič, Miha Humar, 2025, original scientific article

Abstract: V raziskavi predstavljamo metodo zaščite lesa pred glivnim razkrojem s precipitacijo netopnih bakrovih soli v lumnih lesnih celic z uporabo dvostopenjske impregnacije s topnim bakrovim sulfatom in fiksativom, natrijevim karbonatom.

Luka Pajek, Janez Krč, 2025, original scientific article

Rare Basidiomycete resupinatus rouxii reported for the first time in Türki̇ye
Ismail Acar, Halide Karabiyik, 2025, original scientific article

Abstract: In this study, Resupinatus rouxii Consiglio & Setti was collected from Çanakkale province, Türkiye, and identified using both morphological and molecular data. Macroscopically, the species is characterised by its small size, kidney-shaped pileus, light grey colour, and slightly hairy surface. Microscopic examination confirmed diagnostic features of the genus Resupinatus, and detailed evaluations were made of the basidia, basidiospores, and cystidia. The internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region of nuclear ribosomal DNA was sequenced and used in phylogenetic analyses. The resulting ITS sequence showed more than 99% similarity to the reference sequence of R. rouxii, supporting the morphological identification. This study represents the second scientific report of R. rouxii worldwide and provides the fourth known record of this species, extending its known distribution to Türkiye (Çanakkale province) and contributing valuable data to its biogeography.
