Abstract:Cilj raziskave je bil analizirati talne lastnosti, tla razvrstiti, oceniti rodovitnost rastišč in ugotoviti pestrost vegetacije v starejših (95 - 105 letnih) monokulturah črnega bora.

Title:Investigation of diversity and productivity of forest sites in the Sežana-Komen Karst region
Abstract:The goal of the research was to analyse soil properties, classify the soil, assess productivity of sites and ascertain the diversity of vegetation in older (95 - 105 years old) monocultures of black pine. The fieldwork for this research was performed in 1998 in the forestry unit Se`ana on the research location Kobjeglava and Podgovec. On each research location, 15 research plots(size 20 x 20 m) were randomly chosen on the 50-metre grid. Pedological, phytocenological and growth analyses were carried out on research plots. Pedological studies have shown (according to FAO-Unesco classification) that on limestones and dolomites, lithic and rendzic leptosils envolved, as well aseutric and chromic cambisols and chromic luvisols. Extensive microsite diversity of soil units is a distinctive feature. The proportional representation of soil types, depth of the soil and surface stoniness and rockiness are good indicators of site productivity. The correlation between productivity ranks of research plots, determined on the basis of soil variables, with ranks, determined on the basis of growth variables (medium height of dominant black pine trees) is relatively close (rs = 0,62 - 0,65**).In the pine stands covered with the antropogenic association Seslerio autumnalis-Pinetum nigrae Zupan~i~ 1997 (nom. prov.), the following potential vegetation have been found: Ostryo-Quercetum pubescentis (HT. 1950) Trinajsti~1974, which have lower productivity, and Seslerio autumnalis-Quercetum petraeae Poldini (1964) 1982 and Seslerio autumnalis-Carpinetum betuli Zupan~i~ (1997) (nom. prov.), which have better productivity.
