Abstract:V prispevku so skupaj s potekom sanacije vetrolomov na Polovniku opisani postopek in prizadevanja Krajevne enote Bovec in Območne enote Tolmin Zavoda za gozdove Slovenije za celosten pristop k odpravljanju posledic takih ujm skupaj z Agrarno skupnostjo Čezsoča kot glavnim oškodovancem.

Title:Salvaging forests after consecutive windthrows in 2023 on the Polovnik mountain in the forest management unit Bovec
Abstract:Together with the windthrow rehabilitation on Polovnik, the article describes the procedure and efforts by the Slovenia Forest Service’s Local Unit Bovec and Regional Unit Tolmin for an overall approach to eliminate the consequences of these disasters, together with the Agrarian Community of Čezsoča as the main damage suffering party. During the summer storms, over 35,000 m 3 of wood mass was damaged on Polovnik Hill in the northwestern part of the forest management area Tolmin. As a response to the created situation, after gathering the aerial data and field overview, the Slovenia Forest Service developed a rehabilitation course for the area. 12 main logging fields were determined, and an additional branch of the forest road was constructed; at the time being, primarily cable wood logging is taking place on this demanding terrain. After the finished wood logging works, the rehabilitation will proceed with the regeneration of these forests, primarily with natural seeding and partly with supplementary planting. The Polovnik rehabilitation can be an example of the response to major natural disasters and understanding their dynamics in forming alternative management practices for adapting forests to such disturbance regimes.
