Povzetek: | Every year, Statistical Office of RS (SORS) performs statistical study %Industrial production with which it gathers data on production quantity of industrial products and services and on quantity and value sale of industrial products and services in Slovenia on the yearly level. The aim of study is monitoring the condition, changes and development of the entire industry in Slovenia, calculation of diverse indexes of industrial activities development and international exchange and comparison of statistical data, above all in the framework of EU member countries. In the framework of this study, SORS also manages the official evidence of sawn wood production in the country. Only a part of the companies, whose processing business C16 (SKD 2008) is registered as their main activity and have at least 20 employees, less only as an exception, take part in this study. In our article, we present the analysis, based on these data, namely from the C16 (Treatment and processing of wood) field of activities. In Slovenia, production of the conifer sawn wood prevailed both according to the quantity and the number of sawmills in the period 2014-2018. In this period, it ranged from 450,000 m3 do 823,000 m3 . With regard to the statistical regions in the country, the largest quantity of the conifer sawn wood was produced in the Savinjska region (232.000 m3 or 28 % regarding the total produced quantity); in this region, there were also the most reporting units (17 or 21 % regarding the total number of units) in 2018. According to SURS data, production of the conifer sawn wood in the period 2014-2018 amounted from 95,000 m3 to 136,000 m3 . In 2018, the greatest quantity of broadleaf sawn wood production was in the Goriška statistical region (48,000 m3 or 36 % regarding the total produced quantity) and Southeast Slovenia region (44,000 m3 or 33 % regarding the total produced quantity). In both regions, there were the most reporting units (total of 14 or 42 % regarding the total number of units) in this year. Due to certain methodological specifics (presented in the article) of gathering data on sawn wood production in Slovenia, performed by Statistical Office of RS, caution in data interpretation is needed on the level of the country as well as on the more detailed level (e.g. statistical regions). Assessment of sawn wood production in Slovenia is difficult and demanding due to the structure of sawmills and it is difficult to scoop it using partial data gathering in individual reporting units and/or limited samples. Therefore, in the Slovenian Forestry Institute, we will perform a complete inventory of sawmills in the entire country. In addition to some important information, we will also establish the spatial distribution of sawmills on the level of Slovenia, which is crucial for performing further analyses on the optional lower levels. |
