Programske smernice DORA

Abstract: Državni presejalni program za raka dojk DORA (v nadaljevanju: program DORA) vabi ženske med 50. in 69. letom vsaki dve leti na presejanje z mamografijo, katerega cilj je zmanjšati umrljivost za rakom dojk v ciljni populaciji za 25 do 30 odstotkov. Nosilec programa DORA je Onkološki inštitut Ljubljana. Presejalno mamografijo opravlja 16 javnih zdravstvenih zavodov po Sloveniji na 20 digitalnih mamografih s kadri, ki so za svoje delo posebej usposobljeni. Dodatno diagnostiko in zdravljenje raka dojk, odkritega v presejanju, izvajata presejalno-diagnostična centra na Onkološkem inštitutu Ljubljana in v Univerzitetnem kliničnem centru Maribor. Te programske smernice opredeljujejo presejalno politiko programa DORA, postopek obravnave žensk, organizacijo in dejavnosti programa DORA. Delijo se na upravljalske, zdravstvene in druge storitve. Sestavni del teh programskih smernic je tudi določitev strokovnega nadzora, ki se opravlja v presejalnem programu, ter podrobnejši Standardni operativni postopki (SOP) delovanja programa DORA. Sestavni del tega dokumenta so tudi Protokoli in priloge.

A method for the immobilization of chitosan onto urinary catheters

Abstract: A method for the immobilization of an antibacterial chitosan coating to polymeric urinary medical catheters is presented. The method comprises a two-step plasma-treatment procedure, followed by the deposition of chitosan from the water solution. In the first plasma step, the urinary catheter is treated with vacuum-ultraviolet radiation to break bonds in the polymer surface film and create dangling bonds, which are occupied by hydrogen atoms. In the second plasma step, polymeric catheters are treated with atomic oxygen to form oxygen-containing surface functional groups acting as binding sites for chitosan. The presence of oxygen functional groups also causes a transformation of the hydrophobic polymer surface to hydrophilic, thus enabling uniform wetting and improved adsorption of the chitosan coating. The wettability was measured by the sessile-drop method, while the surface composition and structure were measured by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy. Non-treated samples did not exhibit successful chitosan immobilization. The effect of plasma treatment on immobilization was explained by noncovalent interactions such as electrostatic interactions and hydrogen bonds.

Abstract: Sorta ˈPicholineˈ je dobro prilagodljiva na različne rastne pogoje. Drevo je srednje bujno in razširjene rasti. Sorta je delno samooplodna. Uporabljamo jo lahko za predelavo v olje in za vlaganje, čemur prilagodimo tudi čas in način obiranja. Plodovi so nekoliko večji, srednje pozno se barvajo in vsebujejo srednjo količino olja z visoko vsebnostjo biofenolov in srednjo vsebnostjo tokoferolov. Olje velikokrat pri predelavi težko izločimo. Nizke temperature in sušo sorazmerno dobro prenaša. Proti pavjemu očesu je malo občutljiva, občutljiva pa je na oljčnega raka. Abstract: Sorta ˈPendolinoˈ je dober opraševalec sorte ‘Leccino’ in ‘Frantoio’. Sama je avtosterilna in za dobro oploditev potrebuje opraševalca ('Leccino', 'Moraiolo', 'Frantoio'). Drevo je močne rasti z izrazito povešajočimi tanjšimi rodnimi vejami in ozkimi ozkimi listi. V novejših nasadih se je izkazala kot sorta, ki zgodaj stopi v rodnost. Plodovi se zgodaj obarvajo v črno in dozorevajo v istem času kot 'Leccino’. Rodnost je dobra in redna, po vsebnosti olja pa je nekoliko nižja od sorte ’Leccino’. Olje ima srednjo vsebnost tokoferolov in biofenolov. Sorta je malo občutljiva za pavje oko in sajavost, odporna pa na napade oljčne muhe in oljčnega molja. Nizke temperature sorazmerno dobro prenaša. Abstract: Sorta ˈGrignanˈ je namenjena predelavi v olje. Zanjo je značilna počasna rast, krošnja pa je bolj pokončna in redka. To je sorta, ki zgodaj stopi v rodnost. Zaradi avtosterilnosti potrebuje za oploditev opraševalce. Dobri opraševalci naj bi bili 'Frantoio', 'Casaliva', 'Pendolino' in 'Leccino'. Rodnost je slabša do srednja, a konstantna. Plodovi se zgodaj začenjajo barvati, vendar neenakomerno. Vsebnost biofenolov v olju je srednja, tokoferolov pa nizka do srednja. Abstract: Sorta ˈFrantoioˈ je v svetu razširjena zaradi sposobnosti prilagajanja na različna okolja ter redne in dobre rodnosti ter kakovosti olja. Drevo je bujne rasti, mladi poganjki so dolgi in povešeni. Dozorevanje plodov je postopno in traja dalj časa. Plodovi vsebujejo več olja od sorte Leccino, olje pa ima visoko vsebnost oleinske kisline, nizko vsebnost tokoferolov in visoko vsebnost biofenolov. Na pavje oko občutljiva, na in oljčno muho je pa malosrednje občutljiva , slabše pa prenaša nizke temperature, vendar se hitro obnavlja. Znana je njena velika občutljivost na oljčnega raka, ki je pogost spremljevalec te sorte. Zelo dobro prenaša Verticillium dahliae - verticilijsko uvelost. Biological factors of the tumour response to electrochemotherapy : review of the evidence and a research roadmap

Abstract: The beneficial effects of electrochemotherapy (ECT) for superficial tumours and, more recently, deepseated malignancies in terms of local control and quality of life are widely accepted. However, the variability in responses across histotypes needs to be explored. Currently, patient selection for ECT is based on clinical factors (tumour size, histotype, and exposure to previous oncological treatments), whereas there are no biomarkers to predict the response to treatment. In this field, two major areas of investigation can be identified, i.e., tumour cell characteristics and the tumour microenvironment (vasculature, extracellular matrix, and immune infiltrate). For each of these areas, we describe the current knowledge and discuss how to foster further investigation. This review aims to provide a summary of the currently used guiding clinical factors and delineates a research roadmap for future studies to identify putative biomarkers of response to ECT. These biomarkers may allow researchers to improve ECT practice by customising treatment parameters, manipulating the tumour and its microenvironment, and exploring novel therapeutic combinations.

Potentiation of electrochemotherapy effectiveness by immunostimulation with IL-12 gene electrotransfer in mice is dependent on tumor immune status

Abstract: Electrochemotherapy (ECT) exhibits high therapeutic effectiveness in the clinic, achieving up to 80% local tumor control but without a systemic (abscopal) effect. Therefore, we designed a combination therapy consisting of ECT via intratumoral application of bleomycin, oxaliplatin or cisplatin with peritumoral gene electrotransfer of a plasmid encoding interleukin-12 (p. t. IL-12 GET). Our hypothesis was that p. t. IL-12 GET potentiates the effect of ECT on local and systemic levels and that the potentiation varies depending on tumor immune status. Therefore, the combination therapy was tested in three immunologically different murine tumor models. In poorly immunogenic B16F10 melanoma, IL-12 potentiated the antitumor effect of ECT with biologically equivalent low doses of cisplatin, oxaliplatin or bleomycin. The most pronounced potentiation was observed after ECT using cisplatin, resulting in a complete response rate of 38% and an abscopal effect. Compared to B16F10 melanoma, better responsiveness to ECT was observed in more immunogenic 4%T1 mammary carcinoma and CT26 colorectal carcinoma. In both models, p. t. IL-12 GET did not significantly improve the therapeutic outcome of ECT using any of the chemotherapeutic drugs. Collectively, the effectiveness of the combination therapy depends on tumor immune status. ECT was more effective in more immunogenic tumors, but GET exhibited greater contribution in less immunogenic tumors. Thus, the selection of the therapy, namely, either ECT alone or combination therapy with p. t. IL-12, should be predominantly based on tumor immune status.
