Kulturna politika i popularna glazba : žanrovski kolaži Pule u šezdesetimaLada Duraković, 2024, izvirni znanstveni članek Povzetek: The sixties of the last century were a key period for the assertion of popular music practices in Pula: the first album of popular music was recorded, the first breakthrough of a „serious“ composer into the entertainment sphere took place and the first rock band guitar party was organised. By analysing newspaper articles and archival material, as well as through the method of oral history, the article highlights some of the key points of the cultural-political discourse on popular music practices: modern and newly composed folk music and rock & roll.

6. Yugoslav commercial diplomacy in developing countries between state's (economic) interests and (ideological) solidarityBoštjan Udovič, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Povzetek: The article deals with the functioning of Yugoslav commercial diplomacy towards the developing countries that were members of the Non-Aligned Movement. With the help of literature, archival sources, and eyewitness accounts, three findings are presented. Firstly, ideology hardly played a role in Yugoslavia's economic relations with the less developed countries. Secondly, Yugoslav socialist realism towards the Non-Aligned countries was a combination of several parallel processes: altruism, egoism and political pragmatism, which meant that the Yugoslav authorities played several games on several levels to combine prestige politics and economic benefits.

8. 9. Experimental evaluation of enhanced antenna switching for CFO mitigation in DoA estimationAleš Simončič, Ke Guan, Grega Morano, Aleš Švigelj, Andrej Hrovat, Teodora Kocevska, Tomaž Javornik, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Povzetek: Direction-of-arrival (DoA) estimation in the Internet of Things (IoT) and embedded devices is typically performed using single-RF chain systems and antenna switching using time-division multiplexing. The accuracy of the DoA estimation is reduced due to the additional phase shifts between the samples on the antenna elements caused by the carrier frequency offset (CFO). We propose to use optimized antenna switching patterns (ASPs) to mitigate the effect of CFO on accuracy in DoA estimation using a multiple signal classification (MUSIC) algorithm. We evaluated two switching methods referred to as EvenCFO-SP and Mirror-SP with simulations and confirmed the validity with measurements. Performance is analyzed and compared with a standard sequential sampling (SS) method. Uniform linear and circular array configurations are considered to evaluate the impact of the noise and the CFO value on estimation accuracy. The results show that the optimized ASPs outperform the SS method, with lower performance gain at small signal-to-noise ratios. The ASP sensitivity to the CFO value is studied, and the frequency bounds within which the optimized ASPs maintain high estimation accuracy are identified. A coarse CFO correction, effective for frequency estimation errors within the kHz range, extends the frequency bounds. Compared to a fine calibration, this reduces computational requirements, making it a viable option for embedded and IoT devices with limited hardware resources.

10. France Marolt’s research, artistic and educational work as reflected on sound recordingsDrago Kunej, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Povzetek: The article examines a less researched aspect of France Marolt’s work: his sound recordings on direct cut 78 rpm gramophone discs. Using the Gailtal Wedding (ziljska ohcet) recordings as a case study, it analyses the context of the recordings, presents the metadata collected and discusses the recording technique used. It places the recordings in the history of Slovenian folk music research and in Marolt’s broader work and shows the interweaving of his artistic, research and pedagogical activities.
