1. How to Digitize and Permanently Preserve Planning Documentation : How to Digitize and Permanently Preserve Planning Documentation: The Collection of Plans of the Architectural Department of the Ministry of Construction of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia (Preconditions, Priorities, Criteria, Primary and Final Goals and New Technologies)Đurđija Borovnjak, 2022, drugi znanstveni članki Povzetek: Digitization of large format archives, in this case architectural plans, is a great challenge, not only in technical terms due to their dimensions and the nature and sensitivity of the materials, but also because of the choice of digitization equipment. As a problem of particular importance, the harmonization of archival standards is also imposed as necessary as well as the information standards, the creation of valid digital platforms and the standards prescribed in the formation of the content. Based on modern examples of practice, the study will address and explain the improved analogue technology in the form of microfilming, as well as the possibilities that it offers in the field of protection and conservation of urban documentation today in the form of manipulation of the digital record of information with analogue technologies and their mutual relationship. An example of this will be given through the presentation of the Piql program and its role in storing data that strive for authenticity and durability on media that provide the security without the possibility of losing the metadata within the network and energy consumption. The presentation will briefly show the state of analogue technologies in archival practice in Serbia and the perspectives of their future technological improvement. 2. Evaluating chatbot assistance in historical document analysisDavid Hazemali, Janez Osojnik, Tomaž Onič, Tadej Todorović, Mladen Borovič, 2024, izvirni znanstveni članek Povzetek: The article explores the potential of PDFGear Copilot, a chatbot-based PDF editing tool, in assisting with the analysis of historical documents. We evaluated the chatbot's performance on a document relating to the Slovenian War of Independence. We included 25 factual and 5 interpretative questions to address its formal characteristics and content details, assess its capacity for in-depth interpretation and contextualized critical analysis, and evaluate the chatbot’s language use and robustness. The chatbot exhibited some ability to answer factual questions, even though its performance varied. It demonstrated proficiency in navigating document structure, named entity recognition, and extracting basic document information. However, performance declined significantly in tasks such as document type identification, content details, and tasks requiring deeper text analysis. For interpretative questions, the chatbot's performance was notably inadequate, failing to link cause-and-effect relationships and provide the depth and nuance required for historical inquiries. 4. Comparison of Social Insurance Legislation of The Austro-Hungarian Monarchy and The Kingdom of Yugoslavia : Legal InheritanceJelena Rafailović, 2022, izvirni znanstveni članek Povzetek: This paper compares the social insurance legislation of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy with the postwar general social insurance legislation of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes/Yugoslavia. The social legislature within the labour legislature was set up after the First World War and represented an important step towards the development of the social institutions in Yugoslavia. Similarities and differences in the development of the pillars of modern social states will be represented by a comparative analysis of the legislation in the field of health insurance through several aspects: differences between inherited social laws in the Kingdom; share of the Habsburg legislature in the new unified Law on Workers’ Insurance (1922) and implementation of the law. 5. Exchanging the “Progressive Experiences” in a Transnational Perspective : Nationality, Economy and Federalism in Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia in the 1960sTomaž Ivešić, 2022, izvirni znanstveni članek Povzetek: This paper focuses on the transnational aspects of the exchanges of experiences (in nationality policies, economy, and federalization) between the Yugoslav and Czechoslovak intellectual elites. By drawing parallels between the two cases, a striking resemblance can be seen. While Slovak intellectual elites used Yugoslavia as a role model to solve the Czechoslovak national question, the latter also served as one of the models for the economic reform of Ota Šik and for the federal transformation of the Czechoslovak state under Zdeněk Mlynář’s watch. 6. »Privreda kao veliki ekonomski sistem« : uspostavljanje složenih formi organizacije i upravljanja u jugoslovenskoj privredi (1945–1950)Aleksandar Rakonjac, 2023, izvirni znanstveni članek Povzetek: The end of the Second World War fundamentally changed the circumstances in Yugoslavia. The authentic revolution under the inviolable leadership of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia created a radically different political situation. There was no political force that stood against the communist rulers and they had carte blanche to build the state from the ground up. However, in the absence of their own experience, they had to rely on Soviet models. The construction of a large economic system soon became the most important segment of state policy. This paper based on archival sources of Yugoslav provenance aims to shed light on the origins, development and scope of this process. 7. The Impact of the 1968 Prague Spring on Czechoslovak and Yugoslav Military DoctrinesBlaž Torkar, Stanislav Polnar, 2023, izvirni znanstveni članek Povzetek: This paper analyzes and compares the impact of the 1968 Prague Spring on military and strategic thinking in Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia. A great change in the Czechoslovakian military caused Memorandum 68, a proposal of domestic military doctrine which consistently took into account the vital security interests of Czechoslovakia in international relations at that time. The document was mainly based on the inviolability of Czechoslovak territory and the right of its nations to defend their own existence regardless of the superpower interests of the Soviet Union. At the same time Yugoslavia began to develop its own doctrine of the General People’s Defence and Social Self-Protection, which emphasized its total nature, creating the reality of the concept of a “nation in arms,” which attached great importance to soldiers and the art of soldiering in Yugoslavia. 8. Relationship between Legislative and Executive Powers in the Yugoslav Socialist ConstitutionsGoran Marković, 2023, izvirni znanstveni članek Povzetek: The aim of the work is to examine the relationship between the legislative and the executive power in socialist Yugoslavia, in order to answer the question whether and to what extent the principles of the assembly system had really been constitutionally guaranteed. The author analyzes competencies and mutual relationship between the legislative and executive power in the four constitutional acts (1946, 1953, 1963, 1974). The constitutional acts proclaimed that the Assembly was the supreme organ of power, while the constitutional theory claimed that it was the assembly system of power although the constitutional acts contained competencies of the political-executive organs which gave them considerable influence. This had been the least visible in the 1953 and 1963 constitutional acts, while the 1946 and 1974 constitutions seriously strengthened the position of the executive power. Therefore, the author only reluctantly concludes that the Yugoslav constitutional system had the features of the assembly system. More precisely, it had been a kind of mixed system with the elements of the assembly system and the separation of powers, at least in the 1946 and 1974 constitutions. 9. How do You Solve a Problem Like Bosnia? : Laibach as Cultural Ambassadors in the Post-Yugoslav ContextIrena Šentevska, 2024, izvirni znanstveni članek Povzetek: This article follows chronologically the changes in the public perception of Laibach in Slovenia, Yugoslavia and the post-Yugoslav countries, Laibach’s relation to the Slovenian state, and the group’s status of informal (and occasionally formal) cultural ambassadors of Slovenia in the post-Yugoslav context. Because the state (in abstract terms) and Slovenian cultural identity play such an important role in Laibach’s artistic output, their formal and informal representation of the Slovenian state and national identity are often misperceived by the media and cultural commentators. The aim of this article is to establish on which occasions and in which contexts Laibach have actually and formally represented Slovenia at international events. 10. The Nationalisation of History in Yugoslav and post-Yugoslav Medieval History TextbooksSergej Flere, 2026, izvirni znanstveni članek Povzetek: Elementary-school history textbooks dealing with the Middle Ages in Yugoslav (1945–1991) and post-Yugoslav republics were examined, with a focus on the history of each republic or state. The treatment of medieval domestic history was compared both across contexts and over time. Our interest lay in the nationalisation of history, which can also generate contradictions among textbooks. Such contradictions may concern claims to territories, historical figures, peoples and events; however, we did not examine possible portrayals of golden ages. Contradictory claims were already present within socialist Yugoslavia, not only after its dissolution, when the successor states enthusiastically pursued their nation-building projects.
