Although some of these species present a limited risk of spreading beyond their planting sites, a growing number of NNTs are spreading and becoming invasive, leading to diverse negative impacts on biodiversity, ecosystem functions, and human well-being. To help minimize the negative impacts and maximize the economic benefits of NNTs, Brundu et al. developed eight guidelines for the sustainable use of NNTs globally—the Global Guidelines for the Use of NNTs (GG-NNTs). We used an online survey to assess perceptions of key stakeholders towards NNTs and explore their knowledge of and compliance with the GG-NNTs. This dataset includes the results of such a questionnaire. Bowman, Jernej Polajnar, David Stanković, 2025, other component parts Abstract: Freshwater ecosystems are full of underwater sounds produced by amphibians, aquatic arthropods, reptiles, plants, fishes, and methane bubbles escaping from the sediment. Although much headway has been made in recent years investigating the overall soundscapes of various freshwater ecosystems around the world, there remains a significant knowledge gap in our collective inability to accurately and reliably link recorded sounds with the species that produced them. Here, we present The Freshwater Sounds Archive, a new global initiative, which seeks to address this knowledge gap by collating species-specific freshwater sound recordings into a publicly available database. By means of metadata collection, we also present a snapshot of the species studied, the recording equipment, and recording parameters used by freshwater ecoacousticians globally. In total, 61 entries were submitted to the archive between the 4th of March 2023 and the 30th of April 2025, representing 16 countries and 6 continents. The most numerous taxonomic group was arthropods (29 entries), followed by fishes (14 entries), amphibians (10 entries), macrophytes (7 entries), and a freshwater mollusk (1 entry). The majority of the submissions were from European countries (27 entries), of which the United Kingdom was the most represented with 14 entries. The next most represented region was North America (11 entries), followed by South America (8 entries), Oceania and Asia (5 entries each), Africa (3 entries), and the Middle East and Central America with 1 entry each. The global south, polar regions, and areas with an elevation >500 m (asl) were underrepresented. The field of freshwater ecoacoustics to date has largely focused on the analysis of ‘sound types’ due to a current lack of knowledge of species-specific sounds. The Freshwater Sounds Archive presents an opportunity to move beyond the ‘sound type’ approach, and towards an approach with higher taxonomic resolution, ultimately resulting in species-specific descriptions. Furthermore, The Freshwater Sounds Archive will provide freshwater ecoacousticians with one of the main tools required to start creating annotated training datasets for machine learning models from soundscape recordings by referring to known species sounds present in the archive. In the long-term, this will result in the automatic detection and classification of species-specific freshwater sounds from soundscape recordings, such as indicator, invasive, and endangered species. Amorim, Raluca Ioana Bancila, Nataša Mori, Maja Zagmajster, 2025, other component parts Abstract: Beneath the Earth’s surface lies a network of interconnected caves, voids, and systems of fissures forming in rocks of sedimentary, igneous, or metamorphic origin. Though largely inaccessible to humans, this hidden realm supports and regulates services critical to ecological health and human well-being. Subterranean ecosystems are integral to major biogeochemical cycles, sustain diverse surface habitats, and serve as the primary source of irrigation and drinking water. They also offer non-material benefits, including scientific discovery, education, and cultural practices. Yet, these contributions often go unrecognized, partly due to the lack of a unified synthesis of ecosystem services across terrestrial, freshwater, and marine subterranean compartments. This gap limits effective communication of their value to scientists, practitioners, and the public. Through a systematic expert-based review, we show that subterranean ecosystems contribute to up to 75% of classified ecosystem services. Notably, many of these contributions are described only qualitatively, lacking numerical or economic quantification. Next, we provide examples of the main services to offer a global overview of their multifaceted value and vulnerability to environmental change. We believe this synthesis provides researchers and practitioners with concrete examples and targeted metaphors to more effectively communicate the importance of subterranean ecosystems to diverse audiences. Ponazoritev metodološke kompleksnosti uvajanja LCA v načrtovalsko prakso na primeru Smernic za nizkoogljične stavbe slovenskih stanovanjskih skladovDavid Božiček, Jaka Potočnik, Luka Pajek, Mitja Košir, 2025, original scientific article Abstract: Nova Direktiva o energetski učinkovitosti stavb (EPBD) uvaja vrednotenje vseživljenjskega ogljičnega odtisa stavb v načrtovalsko prakso. Kot orodje za izračun ogljičnega odtisa stavb je predvidena metoda ocenjevanja življenjskega cikla (LCA). Stavbe so kompleksni sistemi z dolgo življenjsko dobo, sestavljeni iz množice različnih gradbenih proizvodov. Uporaba metode LCA zato zahteva strukturiran pristop, celovito definicijo robnih pogojev in scenarijev izračuna ter podatke, s katerimi določamo okoljski odtis v različnih fazah življenjskega cikla stavb. V članku je predstavljena vsebina Smernic za nizkoogljične stavbe slovenskih stanovanjskih skladov (smernice SSS). Predstavitev smernic služi kot izhodišče za razumevanje metodologije LCA in ključnih elementov, ki so zahtevani za harmonizirano vrednotenje ogljičnega odtisa stavb. V nadaljevanju je predstavljena primerjava metodoloških karakteristik izbranih nacionalnih metod in okvira Level(s) z metodo v smernicah SSS. To omogoča diskusijo o prihajajočih izzivih in tveganjih povezanih z uvajanjem LCA v načrtovalsko prakso in obrazložitev, zakaj bo prihajajoča nacionalna metoda za Slovenijo imela drugačno zasnovo kot v smernicah SSS. V Sloveniji se moramo pripraviti na uvedbo LCA, sicer obstaja tveganje za preobremenitev projektantov in dvom o reprezentativnosti izračunov. 6. Sizing of a hydrogen system for green-hydrogen production by utilising surplus water accumulation in a hydropower plantDavid Jure Jovan, Boštjan Pregelj, Mihael Sekavčnik, Gregor Dolanc, 2025, original scientific article Abstract: The utilisation of surplus hydro energy can enhance the profitability of hydropower plant operation by cogeneration of green hydrogen along regular electricity production. Effective integration of the hydrogen system requires its appropriate sizing based on surplus hydro energy availability, its temporal dynamics, scheduled electricity generation, and expected hydrogen demand. The article introduces a decision-support tool designed for the optimal sizing of hydrogen systems in run-of-river hydropower plants with surplus hydropower. In contrast to conventional methods, the developed tool enables rapid configuration of key hydrogen-system components without relying on complex optimisation algorithms. Implemented in MATLAB App Designer, the tool provides a visual inspection of the entire search space, thus avoiding possible sub-optimal solutions. The tool has been tested on the case-study hydropower plant and it demonstrates the capabilities for proper sizing of a hydrogen system. The results show that the hydrogen system with 0.75-MW electrolyser and 20 m3 storage tank can generate up to 52,652 € in a rainy month and can produce up to 86 tonnes of hydrogen annually, achieving approximately 440,000 € of additional income. The tool can provide valuable insights into hydrogen system's installation profitability, to guide investment decisions in sustainable hydrogen infrastructure and can contribute to broader energy transition strategies. gospodarskim okvirjem poseglo v upravno organiziranje občin.
Uvedba delavskega samoupravnega sistema je vplivala tudi na
organiziranje državne in lokalne oblasti. Ljubljana je bila v štirih
desetletjih deležna sedmih upravnih razdelitev. Uvedba komunalnega sistema junija 1955 je zabrisala meje med mestom in
podeželjem, zato je bila Ljubljana sprva razbita na devet občin,
od leta 1964 pa razdeljena na pet občin (Center, Bežigrad, Šiška,
Moste - Polje, Vič - Rudnik), ki so se ohranile vse do uvedbe novega
sistema lokalne samouprave v samostojni Sloveniji leta 1995. Za
reševanje skupnih lokalnih zadev na mestni ravni je bil leta 1955
ustanovljen mestni svet (1964 Mestni svet Ljubljane, 1969 Skupščina mesta Ljubljane), na medobčinski ravni pa Svet ljubljanske
regije. Komunalni sistem se je v štiridesetletnem obdobju izkazal
za upravno pomanjkljivega, saj je bolj kot za potrebe lokalnega

Martinez-Huerta, 2025, original scientific article Abstract: Developing sustainable and efficient electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is crucial for advancing energy storage technologies. This study explored the dual role of phosphorus as a dopant in carbon matrices and a key component in nickel phosphides (Ni2P and Ni12P5), synthesized using dopamine (PDA) and ammonium phosphate as eco-friendly precursors. The phase formation of nickel phosphides was found to be highly dependent on the P/PDA ratio (0.15, 0.3, 0.6, and 0.9), allowing for the selective synthesis of Ni2P or Ni12P5. Operando Raman spectroscopy revealed that both phases undergo surface transformation into nickel (oxy)hydroxide species under OER conditions, yet Ni2P-based catalysts demonstrated superior activity and long-term stability. This enhancement is attributed to efficient electron transfer at the dynamic Ni2P/NiOOH interface. Additionally, hollow nanostructures formed at intermediate P/PDA ratios (≤0.3) via the Kirkendall effect and Ostwald ripening contributed to an increased specific surface area and micropore volume, further improving the catalytic performance. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy confirmed reduced interfacial resistance and enhanced charge transport. These findings offer new insights into the rational design of high-performance electrocatalysts and propose a green, tunable synthesis approach for advanced energy conversion applications.
