Development of an electrical resistance sensor from high strength steel for automotive applicationsTadeja Kosec, Viljem Kuhar, Andrej Kranjc, Vili Malnarič, Branko Belingar, Andraž Legat, 2019, original scientific article Abstract: This work focuses on a demonstration of the monitoring of corrosion processes taking place in high strength steel in automotive applications. This is performed by means of a corrosion sensor, which operates as an electrical resistance sensor. It was developed from the same type of material that is used for the high-strength steel parts produced in the automotive industry. Using the sensor, real time corrosion processes can be measured. It is attached to a location inside the vehicle’s engine and is equipped with a data logger, which enables wireless transfer of the measured data. In this study the development, operation, and evaluation of the monitoring process are presented. Corrosion estimation is verified by means of electrochemical methods. A metallographic investigation was included in order to verify the similarity between the microstructural properties of the sensor and those of the as-received high-strength steel sheet.

Časovna študija sestojne inventure z aplikacijo MOTI na zasebni gozdni posestiAndrej Ficko, Helena Smrekar, 2023, original scientific article Abstract: Z razvojem digitalnih orodij postaja izvedba gozdne inventure na zasebni gozdni posesti dostopnejša, hitrejša in preglednejša. V raziskavi smo v okviru projekta EIP Digigozd na šestih gozdnih posestih proučevali porabo časa za merjenje sestojne temeljnice, števila dreves in zgornje sestojne višine s slovensko različico mobilne aplikacije MOTI ter hitrost učenja merilcev. Lastniki so izvedli meritve na 149 vzorčnih ploskvah v štirinajstih sestojih, pretežno debeljakih. Zbrane meritve smo analizirali na sestojni ravni, ravni posesti in skupaj. Pri skoraj vseh lastnikih se je izkazal negativen eksponentni učinek učenja na porabo časa za inventuro, ki je v povprečju znašala 10 min/ploskev. Na podlagi mešanega linearnega modela smo ugotovili, da ob upoštevanju razlik med lastniki in med sestoji na porabo časa značilno vpliva le zaporedna številka meritve. To pomeni, da vsaj v začetni fazi, ko merilec še ni izurjen, učenje prevladujoče vpliva na hitrost izvajanja meritev. Na podlagi časovne študije in izkušenj, ki smo jih pridobili v projektu, nameravamo nadaljevati z razvojem orodij za podporo pri gospodarjenju na zasebni gozdni posesti.

Cardiovascular disease in children with marfan syndromeAndrej Robida, 1987, original scientific article Abstract: To study the cardiovascular changes in children with Marfan syndrome the hospital records of 27 children with this syndrome admitted to our institution between 1975 and 1984 were reviewed. Echocardiographic examinationwas done in all of them. Heart catheterization and angiocardiography were performed in 7 children. 15 children were without cardiovascular involvement (mean age 7.9 years). Twelve children with cardiovascular abnormalities (mean age 12.3 years) were significantly older than children without cardiovascular disease (P<0.02). The most frequrnt cardiovascular abnormality (9 children) was mitral valve diseas (mitral regurgitation, mitral valve prolapse with and without regurgitation). In one patient artificial mitral valve was inserted. Aortic root aneurysm was found in 7 children, in some of them in combination with mitral valve disease. Fusiform aneurysm of thoracic aorta together with aortic root aneurysm was present in one child. In 2 patients tetralogy of Fallot was diagnosed. This review shows that the cardiovascular system is more frequently affected in older children and that about half of the children suffer from cardiovascular disease. Mitral valve involvement predominates. Surgery for the correction of the cardiovascular abnormalities in children with Marfan syndrome is seldom required.

Complications in cardiac catheterization and angiocardiography in infants and childrenAndrej Robida, 1987, original scientific article Abstract: Complications of cardiac catheterization and angiocardiography were reviewed retrospectively in 1074 neonates, infants, and children studied from 1st January 1981 to 31st December 1985. Overall complication rate was 5.2% (56 complications in 54 children). There were 3 cases of complications was 3.8% and was higher in infants younger than 4 months (P<0.001), and in moderalety and critically ill patients than in asymptomatic and mildly ill patients (P<0.001). The highest proportion of major complications occured in patients with truncus arteriosus communis, double outlet right ventricle, atrioventricular septal defect, univentricular heart, transposition of the great arteries, and tetralogy of fallot. Arrhythmias were encountered in 66.1%of all major and minor complications. In minor complications the differences in frequency were not found beteen various age and clinical groups (P>0.05). The study showed that higher catheterization risk of major complications could be predicted from the age, clinical status, and heart defect of the patient.
