Sistemsko zdravljenje bolnikov s pljučnim rakom : tarčno zdravljenje

Povzetek: Sistemsko zdravljenje nedrobnoceličnega raka pljuč (NDRP) je odvisno od različnih biooznačevalcev. Za izbiro sistemskega zdravljenja NDRP, ki nima ploščatocelične patohistologije danes potrebujemo molekularnogenetsko analizo. Le-ta nam poda informacijo ali ima NDRP morebitno genetsko alteracijo, za katero že imamo razvito tarčno obliko zdravljenja. Poznamo naslednje prediktivne molekularne alteracije: mutacije v genih EGFR, MET, BRAF, KRAS ter preureditve v genih ALK, ROS1, RET, NTRK in še druge. Skupna lastnost tarčnih zdravil pri NDRP je, da so visoko učinkovita, v peroralni obliki in da nudijo dobre možnosti dolgotrajnih zazdravljenj napredovale bolezni, ob tem pa je tveganje za hude neželene učinke nizko, kar celokupno vodi v dobro kvaliteto življenja.

A review of recombination coefficients of neutral oxygen atoms for various materials

Povzetek: Relevant data on heterogeneous surface recombination of neutral oxygen atoms available in the scientific literature are reviewed and discussed for various materials. The coefficients are determined by placing the samples either in non-equilibrium oxygen plasma or its afterglow. The experimental methods used to determine the coefficients are examined and categorized into calorimetry, actinometry, NO titration, laser-induced fluorescence, and various other methods and their combinations. Some numerical models for recombination coefficient determination are also examined. Correlations are drawn between the experimental parameters and the reported coefficients. Different materials are examined and categorized according to reported recombination coefficients into catalytic, semi-catalytic, and inert materials. Measurements from the literature of the recombination coefficients for some materials are compiled and compared, along with the possible system pressure and material surface temperature dependence of the materials’ recombination coefficient. A large scattering of results reported by different authors is discussed, and possible explanations are provided.

Prekinitev zdravljenja in reindukcija zdravljenja z imunskimi kontrolnimi točkami

Povzetek: Zaviralci imunskih kontrolnih točk (ZIKT) so novejša oblika sistemskega zdravljenja, ki so povezani s potencialni razvojem imunsko pogojenih neželenih dogodkov (irAE). Po razrešenem irAE obstaja možnost ponovne uvedbe ZIKT. Z naraščenjem števila bolnikov, ki so primerni za zdravljenje z ZIKT, se povečuje tudi število podatkov o varnosti in učinkovitosti ponovne uvedbe ZIKT po nastalem irAE. V prisevku sta povzeti dve nedavni študiji, ki analizirata podatke o ponovni uvedbi ZIKT po razrešenem irAE.

Nevrološki zapleti zdravljenja z zaviralci imunskih nadzornih točk

Povzetek: Pomembnemu ugodnemu učinku zdravljenja z zaviralci imunskih nadzornih točk so relativno pogosto pridruženi neželeni zapleti, med katerimi so nevrološki redki, a lahko življenje ogrožujoči. V prispevku so predstavljeni nevrološki zapleti zdravljenja z zaviralci imunskih nadzornih točk. Podana klinična primera opišeta nevrološka zapleta s klinično sliko prizadetosti perifernega živčevja, in sicer miozitisom in akutno inflamatorno demielinizirajočo polinevropatijo.

Prediction of the peak shear strength of the rock joints with artificial neural networks

Povzetek: With the development of computer technology, artificial neural networks are becoming increasingly useful in the field of engineering geology and geotechnics. With artificial neural networks, the geomechanical properties of rocks or their behaviour could be predicted under different stress conditions. Slope failures or underground excavations in rocks mostly occurred through joints, which are essential for the stability of geotechnical structures. This is why the peak shear strength of a rock joint is the most important parameter for a rock mass stability. Testing of the shear characteristics of joints is often time consuming and suitable specimens for testing are difficult to obtain during the research phase. The roughness of the joint surface, tensile strength and vertical load have a great influence on the peak shear strength of the rock joint. In the presented paper, the surface roughness of joints was measured with a photogrammetric scanner, and the peak shear strength was determined by the Robertson direct shear test. Based on six input characteristics of the rock joints, the artificial neural network, using a backpropagation learning algorithm, successfully learned to predict the peak shear strength of the rock joint. The trained artificial neural network predicted the peak shear strength for similar lithological and geological conditions with average estimation error of 6%. The results of the calculation with artificial neural networks were compared with the Grasselli experimental model, which showed a higher error in comparison with the artificial neural network model.

A method for the immobilization of chitosan onto urinary catheters

Povzetek: A method for the immobilization of an antibacterial chitosan coating to polymeric urinary medical catheters is presented. The method comprises a two-step plasma-treatment procedure, followed by the deposition of chitosan from the water solution. In the first plasma step, the urinary catheter is treated with vacuum-ultraviolet radiation to break bonds in the polymer surface film and create dangling bonds, which are occupied by hydrogen atoms. In the second plasma step, polymeric catheters are treated with atomic oxygen to form oxygen-containing surface functional groups acting as binding sites for chitosan. The presence of oxygen functional groups also causes a transformation of the hydrophobic polymer surface to hydrophilic, thus enabling uniform wetting and improved adsorption of the chitosan coating. The wettability was measured by the sessile-drop method, while the surface composition and structure were measured by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy. Non-treated samples did not exhibit successful chitosan immobilization. The effect of plasma treatment on immobilization was explained by noncovalent interactions such as electrostatic interactions and hydrogen bonds.
