River distance, stand basal area, and climatic conditions are the main drivers influencing lying deadwood in riparian forests

Povzetek: Riparian forests are among the most diverse terrestrial ecosystems, yet their biodiversity is increasingly threatened by habitat degradation, climate change, river regulation and invasive species. We investigated deadwood, widely recognized as an indicator for forest biodiversity, in riparian forests of the Mura-Drava-Danube Transboundary Biosphere Reserve. The Biosphere Reserve is a conservation area that spans five countries and three rivers located in south-eastern Europe. In detail, we analyzed the drivers of lying deadwood volume, occurrence and decay related to floodplain type, silvicultural management, and climatic conditions using regression models. Lying deadwood occurrence and volume significantly decreased as distance from the river edge increased, indicating that river dynamics likely play a role in deadwood accumulation in riparian forests. Deadwood volume was also positively influenced by stand basal area, a parameter that can be directly addressed by silvicultural management. Deadwood decay was affected positively by temperature and negatively by precipitation, highlighting the importance of climatic conditions on decay progression. However, in order to draw more accurate conclusions about the drivers and dynamics of deadwood in riparian forests, further monitoring efforts that consider river flooding and flow regime, deadwood transport and saproxylic organism activity in addition to forest management and site conditions, are needed.

Povzetek: Priporočila za zobozdravstveno obravnavo bolnikov z rakom glave in vratu (RGV) v Sloveniji, zdravljenih z obsevanjem sledijo priporočilom The Royal College of Surgeons of England v sodelovanju z The British Society for Disability and Oral Health, dopolnjujejo Priporočila za obravnavo bolnikov z rakom glave in vratu v Sloveniji in hkrati upoštevajo obstoječe zmožnosti slovenskega zdravstvenega sistema. Namen priporočil je prepre-čevanje oz. zmanjšanje zapletov v ustni votlini, ki nastanejo zaradi obsevanja. Opredeljujejo način zobozdravstvene oskrbe pred, med in po zdravljenju raka na vseh treh nivojih zobozdra-vstvene oskrbe, kar zagotavlja njeno pravočasnost in dostopnost. Priporočila predstavljajo poenoteno mnenje vseh deležnikov na področju zobozdravstvene obravnave bolnikov z RGV v državi.

Povzetek: Several factors that follow the development of society affect physical inactivity, which primarily includes the development of technology and digitalization and the increasing choice of unhealthy lifestyle habits. However, certain shifts in the fitness industry have been noted in the last decade. The development of wearable technologies and artificial intelligence is one of the leading fitness trends and undoubtedly represents the future of the fitness industry. On the other hand, the significant influence of social media and networks affects the development and attitudes of people related to physical activity. Therefore, this review paper evaluates the advantages and disadvantages of wearable technologies and artificial intelligence, the positive and negative effects of social networks, and points out the problems accompanying these new fitness trends. The development of fitness trends follows humanity’s needs, and one of the biggest challenges is incorporating these novelties in a mission to improve physical activity levels worldwide.
