5. Vegetation patterns, functional traits and invasion dynamics across railway microhabitats in SloveniaAzra Šabić, Mateja Grašič, Anže Rovanšek, 2026, izvirni znanstveni članek Povzetek: Purpose Railways are anthropogenic habitats shaped by various disturbances and management practices. Consequently, many studies report on significant plant diversity and vegetation heterogeneity in railway environments. We present results of the first systematic study of railway flora in Slovenia, focusing on microecological differentiation of railway zones and the role of railways as corridors for non-native species. Methods At 92 locations across 15 segments of the Slovenian railway network, we conducted floristic sampling by transect method, studying four distinctive railway zones – Sleeper Zone (SZ), Ballast Shoulder (BS), Ballast Toe (BT) and Intertrack Area (IA) separately. We compared taxonomic and functional diversity, ecological indicator values and vegetation cover among zones using generalised linear mixed models and multivariate analyses. Results We recorded 312 taxa from 67 families. Zone type significantly influenced species richness, vegetation cover and community composition. The BT supported the highest richness and densest vegetation, while the SZ and IA harboured thermophilous, heliophytic annuals adapted to the most extreme conditions. Hemicryptophytes and competitive species prevailed in outer zones; therophytes and ruderal species dominated inner zones. Ecological indicator values confirmed clear gradients of light, temperature and moisture across zones. Non-native species (13% of flora) were nearly ubiquitous, with invasive aliens present at 99% of sites, underscoring railways as invasion corridors. Conclusions Our results confirm the considerable diversity of Slovenian railway flora, microecological specificity of railway zones, and the importance of railways in the spread of non-native species – findings, which have previously been overlooked in Slovenia. 6. Two new scree plant communities in the Triglav Mountains (Julian Alps, Slovenia)Igor Dakskobler, Branko Zupan, 2017, izvirni znanstveni članek Povzetek: In the Triglav Mountains, mainly on the slopes and plateaus to the west of Mt. Triglav (Glava v Zaplanji, Vrh Zelenic) we found new localities of three rare species of Slovenian flora, Crepis terglouensis, Cerastium uniflorum and Geum reptans, and made a phytosociological inventory of their sites. Based on comparisons with similar communities within which they occur elsewhere in the Eastern and Southeastern Alps we described two new associations, Crepido terglouensis-Potentilletum nitidae (alliance Thlaspion rotundifolii) and Saxifrago carniolicae-Cerastietum uniflorae (alliance Arabidion caeruleae). 7. Phythogeographic analysis of SloveniaMitja Zupančič, Branko Vreš, 2018, izvirni znanstveni članek Povzetek: On the basis of the flora and vegetation and phytogeographical areas of Slovenia, we wanted to determine as objectively as possible the distribution of plant provinces, with an emphasis on the Illyrian province, which is characteristic of Slovenian territory. In the phytogeographical analysis of Slovenia we defined a new, pre-Noricum-Slovenian floral province. Five floral provinces in Slovenia are thus now known: Alpine province of the Alpine-High-Nordic region and Central European, Illyrian, Illyrian-Adriatic and Pre- Noricum-Slovenian floral provinces of the Euro-Siberian- North American region. 8. Sites of rare form of auricula (Primula auricula var. Tolminensis nom. prov.) in the southern Julian AlpsAnka Rudolf, Branko Vreš, Igor Dakskobler, 2018, izvirni znanstveni članek Povzetek: In the southern Julian Alps under the northwestern ridge of Kobilja Glava above the pasture of Lom and on the slopes of Krikov Vrh between pastures of Lom and Kuk (Podkuk), on stony shady pasturelands and in limestone and dolomite rocks at elevations ranging between 1,100 and 1,200 m, two forms of auricula (Primula auricula) occur side by side. The more common specimens with bright (deep) yellow flowers are accompanied and outnumbered by plants with slightly smaller stems and distinctly pale, lemon-coloured flowers. Although Primula auricula as a species boasts impressive variability in the size and shape of leaves and their meal covering, as well as in the size and colour of flowers, we have not observed populations with such distinctly pale yellow flowers anywhere else in Slovenia. The taxa described elsewhere in the distribution area of Primula auricula s. lat. (including those that supposedly belong to Primula lutea) are distinctly different from the studied auriculas, at least in terms of flower colour. We infer that they are a new variety, Primula auricula var. tolminensis (the Tolmin auricula), but will have to conduct further research to corroborate this conclusion. In this paper we describe its sites and current distribution. 9. First record of Cistus salviifolius L. (Cistaceae) for the flora of North MacedoniaSlavčo Hristovski, Renata Ćušterevska, Vlado Matevski, 2025, ni določena Povzetek: The watershed of river Crn Drim in south-western parts of North Macedonia (Galičica and Jablanica mountains with the Ohrid valley in between) are under the influence of transitional mild continental to modified (sub)Mediterranean climate. These conditions support the development of rich flora and vegetation with presence of many relict and endemic species. Such is Cistus salviifolius L. (Sageleaf Rockrose) of the family Cistaceae, a species with Circum–Mediterranean distribution. This paper presents the first record of this species in North Macedonia, in the vicinity of Ohrid town (Trojani area), about 60km away from its nearest locality in Albania. The flora and vegetation associated with Cistus salviifolius in Trojani area are significantly different from the studied ones in which this species thrives in Northern Greece. Most of the recorded individuals develop on eroded regosols on silicate bedrock (phyllitic schists). Considering the small extent of occurrence in North Macedonia (62 ha), the threat status of Cistus salviifolius was assessed as Endangered [EN B1a+2a]. Future biogeographical studies supported by molecular analysis can explore distribution pathways, as well as past and present ecological conditions in the watershed of river Crn Drim.
