2. Psychosocial risks and protective factors of Roma and non-Roma communities living in poverty in PortugaJóni Ledo, Catarina Oliveira, Henrique Pereira, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Povzetek: Poverty threatens psychosocial health, especially when intersecting with minority identities such as ethnicity. Within the Roma community, discrimination, prejudice, and stigma create particularly adverse environments. This cross-sectional study compares psychosocial health between Roma and non-Roma individuals living in poverty. The sample includes 317 participants (202 non-Roma and 115 Roma), aged 18–71. Significant differences (p < 0.001) were found in psychological distress (non-Roma higher), self-stigma (Roma higher), social support (Roma higher), and resilience (Roma higher). Roma identity predicts lower distress. Discrimination impacts self-stigma, shaped by social prejudice. Higher resilience and social support in Roma communities act as protective factors. These findings highlight the need for public policies that address these populations’ needs and help reduce stigma and discrimination. 3. Adaptation of migrants returning to their historical homelandMarlan Negizbayeva, Yelena Dudinova, Anarkhan Zhumabayeva, Aigerim Tassilova, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Povzetek: The relevance of this research is determined by the fact that unsuccessful adaptation can lead to social isolation, unemployment, and other negative consequences, affecting the stability of society. This study aims to analyse the key factors and mechanisms that ensure successful sociocultural, economic, and psychological reintegration in the context of repatriates’ adaptation processes. The total number of respondents was 273 Kazakh repatriates. The sociocultural adaptation of Kazakh repatriates in Kazakhstan shows several key trends. Mastery of the language of the historical homeland (Kazakh) ranges from medium to high. Attitudes towards traditions are diverse, with more than a third of respondents highlighting the positive influence of traditions on social interaction. While half of the repatriates actively participate in cultural and social activities, challenges arise in balancing traditional values with modern societal norms. As regards economic adaptation, most repatriates successfully secure employment within a short period and develop stable labour relations. The study emphasises the need for targeted support programmes, such as language courses, cultural orientation activities, and psychological counselling, to address the multifaceted challenges of adaptation. 4. Multidimensional effects of Covid-19 lockdowns on youth athletes : evidence from Slovenian coachesSaša Pišot, Ivana Milovanović, Kaja Teraž, 2026, izvirni znanstveni članek Povzetek: The COVID-19 pandemic, which emerged in early 2020, caused widespread disruptions to youth sport, including curriculum-based physical activity, organized sports, and active transportation. This study investigated the impact of repeated lockdowns on organized youth sport participation, physical fitness, skill development, and psychosocial well-being in Slovenia. An online survey was conducted between November and December 2021 with 116 coaches of U13–U19 athletes across multiple sports disciplines. Descriptive statistics and non-parametric analyses were employed to examine participation trends, training adaptations, and perceived athlete outcomes. Following the first lockdown, 14.6% of athletes dropped out, while 6.5% of teams reported increased membership. After the summer break, participation rebounded, and the second lockdown had a smaller impact, indicating partial resilience in youth sport engagement. Training frequency and modality were substantially affected, with 20% of coaches not implementing remote sessions and fewer than half conducting post-lockdown fitness assessments. Coaches reported declines in general physical fitness (71%) and sport-specific skills (70%), heterogeneous changes in body mass, and reduced self-confidence and motivation in over 50% of athletes, whereas team spirit remained relatively stable. A significant association between perceived changes in body mass and motivation highlighted the role of physical self-concept in supporting engagement. These findings demonstrate that prolonged interruptions to organized youth sport have multidimensional effects on physical, technical, and psychosocial development. Future research should explore long-term consequences, identify effective mitigation strategies, and consider sport-specific, age, and gender-related factors to enhance resilience in youth sports systems under exceptional circumstances. 6. The evaluation of health claims in Europe 2 : What have we learned?Igor Pravst, 2010, drugi znanstveni članki Povzetek: In the last issue we discussed the implementation of health claims legislationin the European Union (1) and focused on techniques for boosting the chances of success with health claims applications. In relation to this, it is very important to learn from the EFSA`s existing opinions to avoid problems which have already surfaced. In the first part, the impact of health claim wording was examined with some examples, while the sufficient characterisation of foods or food constituents, specific conditions of use and the target population, the relevance of the claimed effect on human health and the overall quality of human studies for a successful scientific substantiation of the claimed effect is presented below. Ključne besede: health claims wording, scientific substantiation, functional foods, food supplements Objavljeno v DiRROS: 30.01.2026; Ogledov: 137; Prenosov: 84

7. The evaluation of health claims in Europe 1 : What have we learned?Igor Pravst, 2010, drugi znanstveni članki Povzetek: The implementation of health claims legislation in the European Union has involved a steep learning curve for everyone. While a few years ago many food companies were quite enthusiastic about the ideas of the easier circulation of goods within the community and protecting the consumer from misleading claims, the picture today is no longer so clear. Due to the high standards needed for the scientific substantiation of health claims, many currently used health claims will soon be banned from the market. Scores of them are indeed not very supported, but at least some of them might be correct, albeit not sufficiently substantiated. It is therefore very important for the industry to learn from the existing evaluations to enable better research in this area and to improve the chances of success of following applications. This paper focuses on the experiences of existing evaluations, leading to a better outcome not only for the industry but also for consumers.
