The significance of archival selection and disposal
Aleksandra Pijuk-Pejčić, 2018, drugi znanstveni članki

Povzetek: Today, in an overproduction of documents, it is necessary to be able to differentiate between important and unimportant; it is necessary to be able to properly select archival records and to dispose of current records. The processes of selection and disposal are very important in the system of protection of materials whose final goal is preservation of archival records and their transfer to the Archives. Although there are several measures ensuring the proper creatorsʼ procedures implementation, it is a very complex and responsible work for the Archives Advisory Board, because it must remove all the possibilities of an improper creatorsʼ disposal. In this article, we will describe the significance and the procedure of selection of archival records and disposal of current records in the records management under the supervision of the Historical Archives Sarajevo with all their advantages and disadvantages.

Impact of CT tube voltage and anode current on PET/CT image quality : a nema IQ phantom study
Milana Čavlin, Luka Ležaič, Sebastijan Rep, 2026, izvirni znanstveni članek

Povzetek: Positron emission tomography/computer tomography is a crucial modality for the quantification of metabolic activity and anatomical structure. Reducing radiation dose, especially in repeated imaging, remains a significant challenge. This study focuses on optimizing computer tomography parameters to reduce dose, while maintaining image quality. The aim of this research was to determine the impact of varying computer tomography tube voltage and anode current, on the quantification of standardized uptake value, contrast-to-noise ratio, and radiation exposure (volume CT dose index, dose-length product). A NEMA IQ body phantom was scanned using various combinations of tube voltage and anode current. Standardized up-take value, contrast-to-noise ratio, volume CT dose index and dose-length product, were evaluated from the different scans. The obtained results were statistically assessed. Reducing tube voltage and anode current did not significantly affect standardized uptake value accuracy but, reduced radiation dose. Image quality (contrast-to-noise ratio) remained diagnostically acceptable, supporting the potential for optimization without compromising accuracy. Optimization of computer tomography parameters (tube voltage, anode current) is feasible and beneficial in clinical practice, as it reduces patient radiation burden while maintaining image quality and standardized uptake value accuracy.

A low-power and low-noise 4-12 GHz buck CMOS low-noise amplifier with current-reused technique
Jian Liu, Li Li, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek

Povzetek: In this paper, a wideband fully integrated low-power and low-noise amplifier (LNA) is presented. It features an 8 GHz (from 4 GHz to 12 GHz) bandwidth and an excellent noise figure (NF) using 65 nm CMOS technology. This LNA was designed utilizing a current-reused technique and a cascode gain boost technique. In addition, the interstage inductors use series peaking to reduce the roll-off of high frequency gain and achieve high broadband gain. The proposed LNA circuit achieved high and flat power gain of 23.5±1 dB with input return loss less than -8 dB within the bandwidth of interest (4-12 GHz). The flat NF is 3.3±0.5 dB and the NFmin is a staggering 2.8 dB. Achieving the above performance, the third-order input point (IIP3) also reached -10.78 dBm, which is considered excellent. The LNA consumes 6.07 mW from a 1.2 V supply and occupies a layout area of 0.53x0.55 mm2 .

Intracardiac electrogram analysis may allow for prediction of lesion transmurality after pulsed field ablation of atria in a porcine model
Jernej Štublar, Tomaž Jarm, Lars M. Mattison, Bryan D. Martin, Megan M. Schmidt, Matevž Jan, Atul Verma, Paul A. Iaizzo, Daniel C. Sigg, Damijan Miklavčič, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek

Povzetek: Background Pulsed field ablation (PFA) is a novel cardiac ablation modality with an increasing clinical acceptance in treatment of atrial fibrillation due to its clinical efficacy and excellent safety profile. However, intraprocedural guidance for PFA to ensure durable pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) is lacking. Objective We quantified changes in intracardiac electrograms (iEGMs) following PFA and radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and investigated their applicability for prediction of lesion transmurality. Methods We induced 38 atrial lesions using PFA or RFA in 5 swine and monitored iEGMs continuously for up to 30 minutes postablation. The most characteristic changes in iEGMs were quantified after the decomposition using discrete wavelet transform, which allowed us to analyze the effects in separate frequency bandwidths. Results After the ablation, we observed a reduction of bipolar iEGM amplitude (for PFA and RFA) and an increase in unipolar iEGM amplitude (predominantly for PFA). These changes were due to 2 mechanisms with different frequency content. The low-frequency content of unipolar iEGMs (1–16 Hz) further enabled us to discriminate between transmural and nontransmural lesions in the case of PFA. The rate of reduction of initially increased current-of-injury effect reflected in the low-frequency content of unipolar iEGMs within the first few minutes postablation was significantly higher and more pronounced for nontransmural lesions. Conclusion This study shows that unipolar iEGMs can be used to differentiate between transmural and nontransmural atrial lesions within minutes after PFA in a porcine model, with implications for development of intraprocedural guidance of PFA procedures.

Seeing yew for the forest : a call to action for improving conservation and restoration of the European yew (Taxus baccata L.)
Mélanie Saulnier, Necmi Aksoy, Claire Arnold, Dalibor Ballian, Tatiana Bebchuk, Sylvain Burri, Giacomo Calvia, Thomas Camagny, Yves Caraglio, Anna Cedro, 2026, izvirni znanstveni članek

Povzetek: The European yew (Taxus baccata L.) is a long-lived conifer of ecological, cultural, and historical importance across Eurasia. Despite its remarkable resilience, wide distribution, and symbolic importance, the species has experienced a long-term decline due to a complex interplay of climatic fluctuations, megafaunal extinctions, human exploitation, and insufficient regeneration. Recent studies in palaeoecology, archaeology, dendroecology, and conservation have revealed a species with greater ecological plasticity and a broader historical distribution than previously assumed. However, many fundamental questions remain unresolved, particularly regarding its biogeographical history, population dynamics, recruitment processes, and the drivers of its decline. This review stems from prior investigations of yew in the French Pyrenees and, more broadly, across Europe. These efforts led to a transdisciplinary seminar and opened a collaboration uniting >30 researchers across Eurasia. By synthesizing a wide array of data and perspectives, the article highlights key knowledge gaps and outlines emerging research priorities. These are organized thematically—past, present, and future—and include 25 questions on the species' ecological niche, life-history strategies, human interactions, genetic resilience, and conservation under global change. The article advocates for a shift towards integrative and long-term conservation strategies that embrace the historical legacies of yew populations, the general ecology of the species along with local ecological context dependence, and the urgency of future threats. By identifying pressing research needs, this review seeks to lay the foundation for new collaborative initiatives and to support evidence-based conservation of this emblematic yet understudied species.

Study of the neutron radiation hardness of MAPD-3NK2 silicon photomultipliers
Klemen Ambrožič, Anže Jazbec, M. Holik, S. Nuruyev, F. Ahmadov, G. Ahmadov, O. Okhrimenko, A. Mammadli, A. Sadygov, Z. Sadygov, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek

Povzetek: The radiation hardness of MAPD-3NK2 photodiodes with deep-buried pixel structures was evaluated under neutron irradiation at fluences ranging from 3.6 × 109to 3.6 × 1012neq/cm². Irradiation induced dark current increase of up to 2060 times, a breakdown voltage shift of (0.37 ± 0.08) V, a photo signal amplitude reduction of (90.1 ± 0.4) %, and a tenfold degradation in amplitude resolution. Partial recovery was observed after 40 days of room-temperature annealing, with dark current decreasing by 35%.Similar performance changes were observed in photodiodes with artificially elevated dark current, indicating that excess current is the primary driver of degradation. This current likely impedes photoelectron detection by occupying pixels or failing to fully quench the avalanche process, thereby reducing photocurrent.

Generalized derivations of current Lie algebras
Dominik Benkovič, Daniel Eremita, 2024, izvirni znanstveni članek

Povzetek: Let $L$ be a Lie algebra and let $A$ be an associative commutative algebra with unity, both over the same field $F$. We consider the following question. Is every generalized derivation (resp. quasiderivation) of $L \otimes A$ the sum of a derivation and a map from the centroid of $L \otimes A$, if the same holds true for $L$?

La crisi dell'abitare : L'ethos dell'occidente
Alfredo Rocha de la Torre, 2023, izvirni znanstveni članek

Povzetek: The Crisis of Dwelling. The Ethos of the West The paper attempts to describe the fundamental features of the cultural ethos of the contemporary world, which within humanity causes the crisis of dwelling. Referring to the Heideggerian diagnostic of Weltzivilisation—as characterized by the prevalence of calculative thinking and thus by the demand of the availability of all entities—, we underline the features of thoughtlessness and emptiness of the technical civilization tied predominantly to calculation. Upon the basis of these features, one can conclude that the ethos of the current world has a banal and nihilistic character, which is linked, in a very general way, to the comprehension structure of today’s man that constitutes the way of the latter’s opening to the world and understanding of the disclosure itself. The prepositions of such a deliberation allow us to recognize that the crisis of dwelling resides, ultimately, in the crisis of thinking already indicated by Heidegger.

Pelagic calcifiers face increased mortality and habitat loss with warming and ocean acidification
Nina Bednaršek, Brendan Carter, Ryan M. McCabe, Richard Alan Feely, Evan M. Howard, Francisco P. Chavez, Meredith Elliott, Jennifer L. Fisher, Jaime Jahncke, Zach Siegrist, 2022, izvirni znanstveni članek

Povzetek: Global change is impacting the oceans in an unprecedented way, and multiple lines of evidence suggest that species distributions are changing in space and time. There is increasing evidence that multiple environmental stressors act together to constrain species habitat more than expected from warming alone. Here, we conducted a comprehensive study of how temperature and aragonite saturation state act together to limit Limacina helicina, globally distributed pteropods that are ecologically important pelagic calcifiers and an indicator species for ocean change. We co-validated three different approaches to evaluate the impact of ocean warming and acidification (OWA) on the survival and distribution of this species in the California Current Ecosystem. First, we used colocated physical, chemical, and biological data from three large-scale west coast cruises and regional time series; second, we conducted multifactorial experimental incubations to evaluate how OWA impacts pteropod survival; and third, we validated the relationships we found against global distributions of pteropods and carbonate chemistry. OWA experimental work revealed mortality increases under OWA, while regional habitat suitability indices and global distributions of L. helicina suggest that a multi-stressor framework is essential for understanding pteropod distributions. In California Current Ecosystem habitats, where pteropods are living close to their thermal maximum already, additional warming and acidification through unabated fossil fuel emissions (RCP 8.5) are expected to dramatically reduce habitat suitability.

Current and innovative approaches in the treatment of non-muscle invasive bladder cancer : the role of transurethral resection of bladder tumor and organoids
Milena Taskovska, Mateja Erdani-Kreft, Tomaž Smrkolj, 2020, pregledni znanstveni članek

Povzetek: Background. Bladder cancer is the 7th most common cancer in men. About 75% of all bladder cancer are nonmuscle invasive (NMIBC). The golden standard for definite diagnosis and first-line treatment of NMIBC is transurethral resection of bladder tumour (TURB). Historically, the monopolar current was used first, today bipolar current is preferred by most urologists. Following TURB, depending on the tumour grade, additional intravesical chemo- or/and immunotherapy is indicated, in order to prevent recurrence and need for surgical resection. Development of new technologies, molecular and cell biology, enabled scientists to develop organoids % systems of human cells that are cultivated in the laboratory and have characteristics of the tissue from which they were harvested. In the field of urologic cancers, the organoids are used mainly for studying the course of different diseases, however, in the field of bladder cancer the data are scarce. Conclusions. Different currents - monopolar and bipolar, have different effect on urothelium, that is important for oncological results and pathohistological interpretation. Specimens of bladder cancer can be used for preparation of organoids that are further used for studying carcinogenesis. Bladder organoids are step towards personalised medicine, especially for testing effectiveness of chemo-/immunotherapeutics.
