Povzetek: Prispevek nadaljuje članek iz prve številke letošnjega Geografskega obzornika. Med odpravo leta 1972 in manjšo leta 2014 se je nabralo veliko gradiva. Obravnavamo klimatsko pogojene spremembe v dolini Baruna, značilne za visokogorje: krčenje ledenikov, širjenje in naraščanje števila ledeniških jezer, ki lahko ogrožajo nižje predele. Potresi, plazovi in podori lahko sprožijo nenadne poplave. Povzemamo tudi izsledke monografije ob 50-letnici 4. JAHO o geologiji, rastlinstvu, živalstvu in višinskih pasovih območja.

Cave system evolution in dedolomite (central Slovenia)

Povzetek: The Mravljetovo brezno v Gošarjevih rupah (MBGR) cave system in central Slovenia provides key insights into the role of dedolomitization in speleogenesis within mixed carbonate–siliciclastic successions. Detailed geomorphological mapping, structural analysis, LiDAR-based morphometry, sedimentology, and Usingle bondTh and OSL geochronology were integrated to reconstruct cave and landscape evolution. Dedolomitization acted as an early-stage preconditioning process, enhancing porosity, permeability, and mechanical weakness along bedding planes and fractures, thereby guiding initial conduit development. Cave passages are strongly aligned with Dinaric-oriented fault systems, indicating structural control predating Miocene tectonic reactivation. Morphological features such as ceiling channels, cupolas, rising channels, and pendants reflect a complex interplay between structurally guided phreatic inception and later epiphreatic to vadose modification. Usingle bondTh ages up to ~380 ka and OSL-dated sediments at ~87 ka constrains major phases of vadose evolution to at least the Middle Pleistocene, while Holocene speleothems record renewed calcite deposition under stabilized conditions. Progressive uplift and valley incision drove long-term groundwater-level lowering, transitioning the system from phreatic to dominantly vadose conditions. Present morphology is further modified by condensation corrosion linked to active cave ventilation. The MBGR cave demonstrates how dedolomitization can fundamentally influence speleogenetic pathways and highlights caves as valuable archives of tectonic, climatic, and geomorphic evolution in prealpine karst settings.

Slovene Classical karst: Kras Plateau and the Recharge Area of Ljubljanica River

Povzetek: The area of the Classical Karst is roughly defined by a triangle with Ljubljana, Trieste and Rijeka as its vertices. This is the area where the first scientific studies of karst phenomena were conducted. Two sub-regions that particularly attracted researchers are presented. Kras/Carso plateau with the Škocjan caves and the underground course of the Reka river. The groundwater flow of Reka-Timavo is characterised by high recharge variability of allogenic inflow of Reka River and flow restrictions in the upper part of subterranean flow, which control regional backfloodings observed in cave systems. The recharge area of Ljubljanica Springs is known for a cascading series of poljes in intermediate cave systems. The area has been in focus of hydrological studies for over a century, but many phenomena have been resolved in the last decade based on results of continuous autonomous monitoring in the last decade.
