1. Evaluating chatbot assistance in historical document analysisDavid Hazemali, Janez Osojnik, Tomaž Onič, Tadej Todorović, Mladen Borovič, 2024, izvirni znanstveni članek Povzetek: The article explores the potential of PDFGear Copilot, a chatbot-based PDF editing tool, in assisting with the analysis of historical documents. We evaluated the chatbot's performance on a document relating to the Slovenian War of Independence. We included 25 factual and 5 interpretative questions to address its formal characteristics and content details, assess its capacity for in-depth interpretation and contextualized critical analysis, and evaluate the chatbot’s language use and robustness. The chatbot exhibited some ability to answer factual questions, even though its performance varied. It demonstrated proficiency in navigating document structure, named entity recognition, and extracting basic document information. However, performance declined significantly in tasks such as document type identification, content details, and tasks requiring deeper text analysis. For interpretative questions, the chatbot's performance was notably inadequate, failing to link cause-and-effect relationships and provide the depth and nuance required for historical inquiries. 2. Najprej pokažemo, kako klasična rodoslovna metoda, zasidrana v zgodovinopisni kritiki virov, vodi do dokaza o sorodstvenem razmerju med Frankom Lozarjem starejšim in Frankom Lozarjem mlajšim. 4. Thematic Exploration of Slovenia’s Path to Independence in Slovenian Scopus-Indexed History Journals : A Bibliometric and Sociometric AnalysisDavid Hazemali, Mateja Matjašič Friš, Andrej Naterer, 2024, izvirni znanstveni članek Povzetek: This article explores how Slovenian history journals have portrayed Slovenia’s path to independence. The analysis of 3,759 articles and other journal contributions from 12 Scopus-indexed journals, using select digital humanities tools and methods, reveals that themes concerning Slovenia’s path to independence, though less frequent overall, exhibit a dynamic pattern of regular occurrence, influenced by commemorations and special issues of journals. This suggests growing scholarly interest over time. The analysis identified four key thematic groups: Socio-cultural, Political, Religious, and Yugoslavia themes. Furthermore, metadata analysis indicates a balanced distribution of male and female first authors and equitable thematic accessibility across publication languages. These findings contribute to a nuanced understanding of how Slovenian Scopus-indexed history journals engage with this critical topic. 5. Newcomers in Maribor in the First Half of the Eighteenth Century in the Marriage Records of the Parish of St John the BaptistDavid Hazemali, Aleš Maver, Mateja Matjašič Friš, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Povzetek: This article examines the role of newcomers in Maribor during the early eighteenth century through an analysis of 401 marriages recorded between 1700 and 1748 in the Parish of St John the Baptist. At least one spouse in each of these documented marriages originated from outside Maribor (including arrivals from German-speaking Styria, from Carinthia and Carniola, as well as nearby towns and villages). The study shows strong evidence that in-migration via marriage was vital for Maribor’s demographic and economic recovery after the late seventeenth-century plague. Newcomers often married into established local families, particularly those of guild masters and artisans, swiftly obtaining burgher status and guild membership. Marriage functioned as a key integration mechanism that transformed ‘outsiders’ into ‘insiders’ and helped replenish skilled labour in the town. The findings highlight that Maribor depended on a constant influx of migrants to sustain its population and craft industries, as was typical of many pre-industrial towns where deaths outpaced births. Through quantitative analysis of marriage registers and illustrative case studies, the article contributes new insights into early modern urban mobility, showing how socially sanctioned institutions like marriage facilitated the integration of migrants into urban society. Ključne besede: Maribor, Styria, newcomers, migrations, marriage as an integration mechanism, early-modern urban demography Objavljeno v DiRROS: 17.06.2026; Ogledov: 167; Prenosov: 154

6. Slovenska kapela v Washingtonu D. C. : zgodovina nastanka in njen kulturni, politični in verski pomen za Slovence in slovensko-ameriško skupnostDavid Hazemali, Dominik Herle, Žana Plejić, Matjaž Klemenčič, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Povzetek: V prispevku analiziramo nastanek slovenske Kapele brezjanske Marije Pomagaj v baziliki narodnega svetišča Brezmadežnega spočetja v Washingtonu D. C. in njen kulturni, politični in verski pomen za Slovence in slovensko-ameriško skupnost. 7. Shifts and sensationalism in press coverage of drought in the territory of Slovenia (1921–2003)Janez Osojnik, Darko Friš, Mateja Matjašič Friš, David Hazemali, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Povzetek: This article examines how major droughts that affected all or parts of the Slovenian ethnic territory between 1921 and 2003 were reported in major Slovenian daily newspapers. Using qualitative content analysis, supported by basic corpus techniques, it analyses coverage of eight drought years (1921, 1939, 1950, 1952, 1962, 1983, 1992, and 2003) in Slovenec, Slovenski narod, Jutro, Slovenski poročevalec, Ljudska pravica, Delo, and Večer. The article analyses which vocabulary and metaphors newspapers used to describe heat and drought, how they reported on the impacts on agriculture and water resources, and how they portrayed state authorities, expert institutions, and farmers both as key response actors and as those most severely affected by the consequences of drought. It shows a shift from locally grounded and often sensational narratives in the interwar period, through more restrained and regime-aligned reporting under socialism, to more critical and risk-oriented framings after independence. 8. Tržaški Separatist in münchenski Delovodja: : podobnosti in razhajanja v pogledih Franca Jeze in njegovega sodobnika Branka Pistivška o ideji samostojne in neodvisne slovenske državeDavid Hazemali, Ana Šela, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Povzetek: Avtorja v prispevku analizirata idejne in politične razlike ter podobnosti med Francem Jezo in Brankom Pistivškom, dvema predstavnikoma slovenske politične emigracije v času hladne vojne.
