Longitudinalna raziskava TIMSS 2023-2024 : rast znanja matematike in naravoslovja iz četrtega v peti razred
Barbara Japelj Pavešić, Manja Veldin, 2025, final research report

Abstract: Longitudinalna raziskava TIMSS 2023-2024 je prva razširitev raziskave TIMSS (Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study, Mednarodne raziskave trendov znanja matematike in naravoslovja), ki raziskovalcem z vpogledom v podatke omogoča, da preučijo različne načine razvijanja znanja matematike in naravoslovja med učenci določenih populacij.

“I somehow survived... but I will never do it again” : teachers’ perspectives on past and future educational disruptions in Slovenia
Urška Štremfel, Manja Veldin, 2025, original scientific article

Abstract: Five years after the COVID-19 pandemic, namely, the biggest disruption to education in the last century, this article provides insights into the consequences it holds for teachers’ well-being, their (non)preparedness for and support needed in any such future disruptions in Slovenia. By utilising the Job Demands–Resources Model, insights are provided concerning job demands (stress) and job resources (support) on different levels (individual, micro, meso, macro, chrono) of Bronfenbrenner’s ecological systems theory. The importance of complementing large-scale, representative, quantitative data (from the Responses to Educational Disruption Survey (REDS)) with qualitative data obtained from two focus groups comprising eight teachers in total is demonstrated to gain a comprehensive understanding of teachers’ well-being during educational disruptions. This study confirms that the intertwining of different levels in Bronfenbrenner’s socio-ecological system explains job demands (sources of stress) and job resources (support for teacher well-being) during the COVID-19 pandemic. The majority of stressors at the time of the pandemic were identified on the micro level, whereas sources of support were primarily located on the individual and meso (school) levels. For any future educational disruptions, however, the most significant sources of support for teachers’ well-being are expected on the macro level (system and society).

Raziskovanje v vzgoji in izobraževanju : izobraževanje učiteljic in učiteljev za raziskovalno učenje in poučevanje
2024, scientific monograph

Abstract: V današnjem hitro razvijajočem se izobraževalnem okolju sposobnost raziskovanja ni več omejena na akademsko sfero.

What makes me happy and what worries me? A crossnational comparison of stressors and resources for stress relief among youth
Michaela Wright, Franziska Reitegger, Manja Veldin, Maša Vidmar, Katarzyina Borzucka-Sitkiewicz, Marcin Gierczyk, Katarzyna Kowalczewska-Grabowska, Barbara Gasteiger-Klicpera, 2024, original scientific article

Abstract: Numerous evidence-based programs aim to promote youth mental health. Unfortunately, however, they often fail to engage the target group and lack cultural sensitivity. The present study addresses these issues by using a participatory approach to look at variations of stressors and resources for stress relief among students (12-15 years) in three European countries. Two participatory workshops were conducted in three schools in Austria, Poland and Slovenia, with a total of 81 students participating in the first workshop, and 83 in the second. This study presents the findings derived from two distinct participatory activities wherein participants reported their stressors (Relevant Topics activity) and resources (Photovoice activity). Overall, the study revealed remarkable similarities in stressors and resources across the three countries, but differences were also identified. Stressors relating to interpersonal relationships, school, and self-concept were common themes. While concerns regarding health, future, and global issues were less frequently mentioned, they remained persistent across all countries, an indication of their growing relevance amid today’s multiple crises. Animals, sports, and relationships emerged as the most frequently reported resources. Creative arts and expression, music, and calm activities like reading, and spending time in nature were also frequently cited. Notably, engagement with digital devices or social media emerged neither as a common stressor nor as a notable personal resource. The findings will be used to inform the content development of a culturally sensitive digital mental health promotion program, covering salient topics comprehensively while ensuring diversity awareness.
