The dispersion medium for the ash was isopropanol, while the clays were analyzed in distilled water with the addition of a dispersant. The ash was sieved to a particle size of less than 0.25 mm for this measurement. The data are linked to Figure 1 in the article. This dataset also contains the original results of XRD analysis of the raw materials (ash and clay mixes). The measurements were performed using a PANalytical Empyrean X-ray diffractometer with CuKα radiation (wavelength CuKα1 1.54 Å). Each sample was measured from 2θ = 4° to 70° with an increment of 0.0130°, the X–ray tube was operated at 45 kV and 40 mA. The data is linked to Figure 2 in the article. The dataset also includes original XRF measurements for the raw materials (ash and clay mixes) on melted discs, linked to Table 2 and original data for the firing in gradient kiln accompanied by water absorption and shrinkage of the specimens, fired at various temperatures (linked to Figure 3).
