Abstract:V raziskavi smo preverjali uporabnost telefonske/tablične aplikacije MOTI pri ocenjevanju naslednjih sestojnih parametrov: sestojna temeljnica, lesna zaloga, zgornja sestojna višina in delež drevesnih vrst.

Title:The use of MOTI mobile application for evaluating stand parameters on the private forest property
Abstract:The study examined the usefulness of MOTI mobile application for estimating stand parameters: stand basal area, stand volume, dominant tree height, and proportions of tree species in stand basal area. We compared results of two measurement methods: MOTI mobile application and classical forest inventory methods (i.e. the Bitterlich method for measuring stand basal area and tree height measurement with the Suunto height meter). We compared time consumption in both methods and estimated the number of measurements required for a reliable estimation of stand parameters. The comparison of stand parameters obtained by MOTI and the classical Bitterlich method has shown that differences between mean values of most parameters were statistically insignificant. The sampling errors for stand basal area and stand volume amounted to 4.9% and 5.5%. It was ascertained that the measurements using MOTI application were more time consuming than the measurements using the classical method % the difference was 26 seconds per plot. MOTI application is, even with some imperfections, a useful tool for private forest owners and forestry practitioners since it enables a relatively fast and reliable assessment of stand characteristics on forest property or in stands in general, and because it immediately shows the evaluated values of stand parameters
